Project Manager - Transportation / Roadway Engineer (PE) – Tampa, Orlando, or Tavares, Florida

Halff has an opening for a Civil Engineer, with their Florida Professional Engineer (PE) License, to be our Project Manager on our Florida Transportation team in one of our Tampa, Tavares, or Orlando, Florida offices. The ideal candidate will bring civil engineering design experience with a focus on delivering and/or managing projects for the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT). Candidates experience should include leading technical approach and delivery of roadway tasks, and/or leading delivery of transportation design projects for FDOT, with Districts 1, 5 and 7 preferable. What you will do:

  • Works under a Transportation Team Leader in the development of roadway design projects for the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT)
  • Works closely with the other design staff, consultants, and clients to deliver projects that contribute to the growth and safety of Florida roadways
  • Manages transportation projects or tasks in support of business needs
  • Assists in managing the workload of design staff including other Engineers, EIT’s, and technical staff
  • Assists in development and management of project scopes, budgets, and schedules
  • Reviews transportation designs and detailed plans for accuracy and consistency
  • Reports on project progress
  • Collaborates with clients and other consultants
  • Works with the Transportation Team Leader and Operations Manager in business development activities
What you will need:
  • Bachelor's Degree or Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering or ABET accredited equivalent Engineering degree
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in civil, public works or transportation project delivery, with at least 6 years post PE License preferred
  • Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License in the State of Florida
  • Ability to lead a project and supervise technical staff
  • Demonstrated ability to design and review in MicroStation
  • Ability to design, oversee and review roadway projects for FDOT and local municipalities
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • The candidate should have a positive attitude, be self-directed yet a team player and a person of high character with a focus on quality, integrity and success.
