Job description

At RK&K, we are excited to add a dynamic Transportation Project Manager (PM) to our esteemed Roanoke team. This exceptional opportunity entails leading and nurturing a team of skilled engineers on various multi-modal transportation planning and design projects across Virginia and beyond. Essential Functions

As a Project Manager on our transportation team, you will provide leadership and support on diverse transportation/highway engineering tasks. Responsibilities include:

1. Leading multi-modal transportation planning and design projects such as interchanges, highway widening, reconstruction, streets, intersection improvements, ADA compliance, sidewalks, trails, and facility enhancements.
2. Reviewing and certifying engineering plans, models, and documents to meet quality standards.
3. Analyzing interchange alternatives to meet project goals and recommending design solutions.
4. Mentoring junior staff in transportation design tasks.
5. Applying knowledge of transportation design standards, current software, and guidelines.
6. Producing and overseeing construction documents, specifications, and cost estimates.
7. Facilitating meetings, presentations, and plan approvals with clients and internal teams.
8. Managing project staff and sub-consultants.
9. Serving as a liaison between clients and the firm.
10. Building relationships with clients, consultants, government agencies, and staff.
11. Supporting proposal development and business growth initiatives.

Required Skills and Experience

1. Minimum of 10 years of experience in civil or transportation/highway engineering.
2. Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
3. Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.
4. Experience with OpenRoads Designer, MicroStation, InRoads, and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
5. Strong understanding of federal, state, and local design standards.

Preferred Skills and Experience

1. Experience working with VDOT and local municipalities.
2. Participation in relevant professional societies.
