Job summary

Wightman in Kalamazoo, MI is seeking a Project Manager/Civil Engineer to lead transportation projects from concept through delivery. You will manage client communications, oversee design teams, and ensure financial performance while developing new business with transportation clients.

Responsibilities include coordinating with local and state governments, performing AutoCAD Civil 3D work, mentoring staff, and pursuing funding opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• PE licensure in Michigan.
• 8+ years of experience managing transportation projects (roads, culverts, trails, traffic).
• 8+ years in A/E/C industry with record of transportation client retention/attraction.
• Experience consulting or working with local, regional, and state government.
• Strong interpersonal and mentoring capabilities.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

EssentialFunctions:

• Strong technical skills for road, storm sewer, culvert, trail, or traffic projects projects
• Perform AutoCAD Civil 3D design/drafting in support of civil engineering design projects
• Provide training, guidance, and review engineering designs and reports which include design calculations, project specifications, and plan preparation
• Oversee team performance and workload; facilitates work sharing with other locations and practices to deliver best in class projects to our clients
• Manage projects including client communications, public input and feedback, financial performance, and internal support
• Ability to identify engineering and surveying services needed by the client and the ability to draft proposals and estimate fees

Required Education/Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
• PE licensure in Michigan
• 8+ years of experience managing transportation projects; roads, culverts, trails, traffic
• 8+ years of experience in A/E/C industry with record of transportation client retention/attraction

Preferred Education/Experience

• 5+ years of experience in developing business
• 5+ years of experience managing direct reports

Travel

• Position based in Kalamazoo
• 10-15% local travel
