Job Title: Project Manager - Transmission Planning
Location: CA

Position Summary:
FindTalent is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Project Manager - Transmission Planning to support a variety of studies and consulting services in the power delivery and transmission planning domain. The ideal candidate will play a key role in guiding clients through critical decisions backed by robust engineering and business analyses. This role involves working with various entities in the power sector, leading business development initiatives, managing project execution, and mentoring a team of consultants and engineers.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Business Development:

    • Cultivate and manage client relationships through marketing and project interactions.
    • Identify and pursue new business opportunities.
    • Lead proposal development, including project planning, budgeting, and scheduling.
    • Define project objectives and performance expectations with clients.
    • Negotiate contracts and project terms.
  2. Project Execution:

    • Manage all aspects of project delivery, including scope, schedule, budget, and quality control.
    • Analyze and communicate project status, risks, and costs to stakeholders.
    • Lead multidisciplinary teams of engineers and analysts.
    • Ensure project deliverables meet client expectations and industry standards.
  3. Leadership and Mentorship:

    • Mentor and train less experienced team members on technical and business aspects.
    • Serve as a recognized leader in power generation and transmission planning.
    • Support organizational initiatives to expand service offerings and client solutions.
  4. Technical Responsibilities:

    • Conduct and oversee studies related to power flow, transient stability, transfer capability, short-circuit, electromagnetic, reliability, and economic dispatch.
    • Interpret and apply NERC, FERC, and regional standards in project execution.
    • Lead risk assessments and develop actionable recommendations.
    • Utilize power system analysis software to support transmission planning objectives.
  5. Additional Duties:

    • Identify opportunities for cross-selling services across business units.
    • Engage in industry networking to maintain expertise in regional and national power systems.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution (advanced degrees such as an MBA or MS in Electrical Engineering are a plus).
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years in transmission system studies, including at least 3 years in project management.
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Extensive knowledge of electric transmission systems, planning processes, and operations.
    • Proficiency with power system analysis tools such as PSS/E, PSLF, PSCAD, SKM, ETAP, and Promod.
    • Familiarity with NERC and FERC standards and regional transmission operators (e.g., PJM, MISO, ERCOT).
  • Skills:
    • Strong project management and organizational skills.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to handle multiple projects under tight deadlines.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional engineering registration.
  • Experience mentoring and leading technical teams.
  • Demonstrated success in business development and client relationship management.

Compensation:
The annual salary range for this position is $144,000.00 - $227,000.00, with eligibility for a discretionary year-end incentive bonus. Compensation is based on education, experience, and location.
