Job summary

AlphaHire is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee structural steel and precast construction projects across southeastern Wisconsin. You will manage projects from award through closeout, ensuring safety, on-schedule delivery, and adherence to budget and specifications.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in structural steel construction with experience in steel contractors, fabricators, or specialty erection companies.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of project management experience in structural steel construction or related field.
  • Experience managing commercial or industrial structural steel erection projects.
  • Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, erection drawings, and project documents.
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, scheduling, procurement, and change orders.

Responsibilities

  • Manage structural steel and precast construction projects from kickoff to closeout.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, procurement plans, and manpower forecasts.
  • Coordinate superintendents, field crews, fabrication teams, subcontractors, suppliers, crane operators, and general contractors.
  • Review shop drawings, erection drawings, contracts, specifications, and project documents for accurate execution.
  • Monitor financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, labor productivity, billing, cost control, and profitability.
  • Handle RFIs, submittals, change orders, purchase orders, and project documentation.
  • Coordinate material deliveries, fabrication schedules, and installation sequencing.
  • Lead project meetings and provide updates to clients, engineers, and leadership.
  • Oversee inspections, punch-list, turnover, and closeout documentation.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee structural steel and precast construction projects across southeastern Wisconsin. This role is responsible for managing projects from award through closeout, ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with project specifications.

The ideal candidate has experience working for a structural steel contractor, steel fabricator, or specialty erection company and understands the coordination required between fabrication, field operations, crane services, suppliers, and general contractors. Experience with miscellaneous metals, ornamental iron, and precast erection is highly valued.

Responsibilities
  • Manage structural steel and precast construction projects from project kickoff through final completion.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, procurement plans, manpower forecasts, and equipment logistics.
  • Coordinate Superintendents, field crews, fabrication teams, subcontractors, suppliers, crane operators, and general contractors.
  • Review shop drawings, erection drawings, contracts, specifications, and project documents to ensure accurate execution.
  • Monitor project financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, labor productivity, billing, cost control, and profitability.
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, purchase orders, and project documentation.
  • Coordinate material deliveries, fabrication schedules, and installation sequencing to support field operations.
  • Identify and resolve construction challenges while minimizing schedule impacts and cost overruns.
  • Lead project meetings and provide regular updates to clients, engineers, and company leadership.
  • Oversee inspections, punch-list completion, project turnover, and closeout documentation.
  • Build strong relationships with owners, architects, engineers, fabricators, suppliers, and trade partners.
  • 5+ years of project management experience in structural steel construction.
  • Experience managing commercial or industrial structural steel erection projects is required.
  • Previous experience with a structural steel contractor, steel fabricator, or specialty erection company is required.
  • Experience with precast concrete erection, miscellaneous metals, or ornamental iron projects is strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of structural steel fabrication, erection sequencing, scheduling, procurement, and project financial management.
  • Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, erection drawings, construction documents, and contracts.
  • Experience managing project budgets, forecasting, subcontractors, billing, and change orders.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction management software such as Procore, Bluebeam, or similar platforms.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Candidates located in or able to commute to the Milwaukee/Southeastern Wisconsin area are preferred.
  • General commercial construction experience without structural steel project management experience will not be considered.
