Job summary

Steampunk is seeking a Project Manager to manage delivery execution for strategy, communications, and workforce-focused workstreams within a large federal advisory program, applying the program/project manager competency standard to an assigned subset of the work. You'll be a client liaison, team coach, and mentor — leading day-to-day project tasking and delivery in a government consulting environment.

The responsibilities include tracking deliverables, timelines, dependencies, and risks;

Qualifications

• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance.
• Bachelor's degree.
• 5+ years of project management experience, including 5+ years with Agile (Scrum/Kanban).
• PMP or equivalent certification.
• Experience in scheduling, performance measurement, and executive reporting.

Responsibilities

• Track deliverables, timelines, dependencies, and risks for assigned workstreams against program-wide SLA standards.
• Apply financial management, acquisition support, and performance measurement practices within the assigned workstreams.
• Partner with strategy, design, and communications subject matter experts to keep delivery on track and Section 508-conformant.
• Report workstream status into the integrated schedule and leadership reviews.
• Maintain results-oriented working relationships with client stakeholders on the assigned workstreams.
• Manage assigned workstream team members, facilitate discussions to troubleshoot delivery issues, and monitor team performance.
• Assess the current delivery environment and recommend Agile practices tailored to the workstream.
• Participate in and support Agile ceremonies for the assigned workstream, removing blockers to keep delivery on track.
• Evaluate workstream feasibility, eliminate non-productive tasking, and find ways to accelerate delivery where possible.
• Offer guidance and recommendations to client stakeholders in challenging situations.
• Support staff training and development needs to build skills and career growth within the assigned team.

Qualifications

• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance
• Bachelor's degree
• 5+ years of project management experience, including 5+ years managing projects using Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban)
• PMP or equivalent certification
• Working proficiency in scheduling, performance measurement, and executive reporting
• Ability to establish immediate credibility with clients, build consensus, and achieve goals through influence
• Demonstrated interpersonal skill coordinating across technical, mission, and stakeholder groups, with flexibility to work across teams, individuals, and executives

Preferred:

• Experience supporting human-centered design, communications, or workforce-related delivery, including studio-based HCD approaches
• Prior federal contract experience
• Certified Scrum Master

The projected compensation range for this position is $110,000 to $175,000. The estimate displayed represents a typical annual salary range for this position.
