Job summary

Metric Geo is seeking a Stormwater Project Engineer to join its growing multidisciplinary team in Indiana. The role focuses on leading drainage design, coordinating stormwater projects, and delivering technically robust solutions for public and private clients.

The ideal candidate holds a PE or can obtain one soon, has 4+ years in drainage/water resources design, and is proficient with ORD, Civil 3D, CivilStorm, SRH-2D, HEC-RAS, and related tools. Indianapolis-area access is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Water Resources is required.
• PE registration or ability to obtain within an agreed timeframe.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Minimum of 4 years of drainage/stormwater/water resources design experience.
• Experience with ORD/SUDA, Civil 3D/SSA, CivilStorm, SRH-2D, HEC-RAS, HEC-RAS 2D, HY-8.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support drainage design, including storm sewers, culverts, water quality facilities, open channels, bridge hydraulics, and stormwater permitting.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary design teams to produce high-quality, complete engineering deliverables.
• Work within a collaborative, team-oriented environment and contribute to stormwater/water resources growth.
• Take responsibility for project delivery across stormwater, drainage, and transportation projects.
• Apply local, state, and federal stormwater and drainage design standards.
• Prepare erosion control and stormwater management plans.
• Develop technical specs and reports and provide engineering support throughout construction.
• Serve as drainage liaison with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies.
• Contribute to innovative and sustainable stormwater/infrastructure solutions.

The firm works across a diverse portfolio of transportation, infrastructure, and stormwater projects, partnering with public agencies, municipalities, and private-sector clients to deliver technically rigorous and practical engineering solutions. The successful engineer will play an important role in project delivery, providing technical leadership and coordinating stormwater and drainage projects from initial project development through final design.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Lead and support drainage design, including storm sewers, culverts, water quality facilities, open channels, bridge hydraulics, and stormwater permitting.

Required Education and/or Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Professional Engineer (PE) registration in the relevant jurisdiction, or the ability to obtain registration within an agreed timeframe.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Minimum of 4 years of drainage, stormwater, or water resources design experience.

Preferred Education and/or Experience

• Experience working with transportation departments, local municipalities, and local, state, or federal regulatory agencies.
• Familiarity with GIS and geospatial applications.
