Job description

The Storm Project Manager is responsible for the planning, coordination, and execution of storm response operations across assigned events. This role owns end-to-end operational delivery — leading mobilization, directing field activity tracking, managing subcontractor coordination, and driving communication across field teams, customers, and leadership throughout the storm lifecycle.

This is a hybrid role. The Project Manager travels to select storm events based on scope, duration, complexity, and customer requirements, and manages remaining events remotely from the office. The role operates in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment and is accountable for organization, documentation accuracy, and real-time operational visibility across all assigned storm restoration efforts.

Key Responsibilities
Storm Operations Management
  • Lead storm mobilization efforts, including crew scheduling, roster management, and resource deployment across assigned events
  • Direct coordination with subcontractors, field personnel, and operations leadership to ensure timely and efficient response
  • Own daily storm activity tracking, including crew counts, production, equipment usage, and operational status
  • Oversee documentation accuracy across timesheets, daily reports, logs, and records required for billing and compliance
  • Manage communication flow between field teams, leadership, customers, and support functions during active storm events
  • Escalate operational risks, delays, and resource gaps to leadership with recommended actions
Operational Tracking & Reporting
  • Establish and maintain real-time operational reporting for leadership and customer review
  • Ensure completeness and accuracy of all storm-related documentation and submissions
  • Own data quality for billing, reconciliation, and customer reporting requirements
  • Track key operational metrics and lead performance reporting for assigned events
Team & Subcontractor Management
  • Manage onboarding and coordination of subcontractors and field personnel through storm events
  • Provide direction and support to Project Coordinators and other operational staff assigned to events
  • Coordinate cross-functionally with Safety, HR, and Finance to support storm operations
  • Maintain organized records of storm-related activity and hold the team accountable to documentation standards
Work Arrangement & Travel
  • Travel to storm events as assigned based on event scope, duration, complexity, and customer needs
  • Manage remaining events remotely from the office with equivalent visibility, accountability, and responsiveness
  • Deploy on short notice during active storm season, with travel duration varying by event
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in project management, operations, or field management within utility, construction, or infrastructure environments
  • Direct experience managing or supporting storm restoration or emergency response operations required
  • Prior experience leading a coordination team or supervising subcontractors preferred
  • Strong organizational, decision-making, and multitasking skills in fast-paced environments
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and utility operational and billing systems
  • Willingness and ability to travel to storm events on short notice, with duration varying by event
Core Competencies
  • Strong leadership, coordination, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure and time-sensitive conditions
  • Clear and professional communication across field, office, customer, and executive audiences
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy, accountability, and follow-through
  • Proactive, ownership-driven, and outcomes-focused mindset
  • Comfortable operating with autonomy in both remote and on-site environments
