Job summary

American Airlines in Fort Worth, TX seeks a Project Manager/Sr Project Manager for the Feet PMO to lead fleet-related initiatives. You will oversee cross-functional teams across engineering, operations, and supply chain to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery of major aircraft programs.

The role requires 3+ years in aviation project management and a Bachelor's in a related field; PM certification is preferred. On-site work with some travel will be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Aviation Management, Supply Chain, Finance, or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of Project Manager experience in aviation maintenance, engineering, or planning.
• Basic understanding of aircraft engineering and regulatory requirements; aviation experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manages and leads interdisciplinary projects across Technical Operations Engineering, Customer Experience, Supply Chain, Flight and Inflight.
• Develops and implements project plans with goals, scope, timeline, risks, budgets, milestones.
• Coordinates with cross-functional teams to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.
• Monitors progress, manages risks, and communicates status to stakeholders.
• Leads project teams and ensures delivery readiness for fleet programs.
• Interacts with multiple systems to track deliverables and tasks.

• Responsible for managing projects, driving on time deliverables, and leading a group of cross-functional stakeholders to deliver each project on time and on budget.

What you'll do

• Manages, plans, coordinates, and leads all aspects of interdisciplinary projects, including but not limited to, Technical Operations Engineering, Customer Experience, Supply Chain, Flight and Inflight
• Works independently as a Project Manager for the development, design, and implementation of major aircraft programs.
• Holds a crucial role in collaborating within Technical Operations, and across all departments to ensure the success of the project.
• Establishes project plans that consist of project goals, scope, timeline, risks, resources, budgets, milestones, tasks, communication strategies, and deliverable schedules.
• Monitors, tracks and facilitate all fleets projects to ensure production readiness.
• Prioritizes project planning work for effective risk and change management
• Interface with multiple systems to manage daily deliverables and task execution
• Acts as SME for any questions or issues in the project process
• Acts as a project leader, driving project progress, leading teamwork, and supporting the project team members to succeed in their roles and responsibilities
• Collaborate in a diversified and cross-functional team environment (Compliance, Finance, Engineering, AD/ECO planning, Material/Tooling Planning, AD/CFR, Stores, Records, other Tech Ops organizations, etc.)

All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Aviation Management, Supply Chain, Finance, Project Management, or equivalent work experience/training
• 3+ years of experience as a Project Manager, or in management roles in aviation maintenance, engineering, or planning.
• Basic understanding of aircraft engineering disciplines and the regulatory requirements impacting aircraft programs Aviation experience is necessary

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

• Project Management certification
• Previous experience working with aircraft modifications and STCs
• Knowledge of AA policies and procedures

Skills, Licenses & Certifications

• Proven initiative-taker, with a positive attitude and a high learning capacity
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written with all levels within the organization
• Ability to develop project plan quality control goals as well as lessons learning opportunities
• Problem resolution ability with a high degree of motivation, thoroughness, integrity, and reliability
• Proven reliable Project Management skills, experience managing scope, technical details, schedules, and budgets in a project environment
• Ability to think "outside the box" and leverage data responsibilities to help drive performance improvements
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, MS Teams, etc.
• Experience with Smartsheet or similar project management tools is preferred
• Strong people management skills. Must have "can do" attitude in serving our team and the business mission with pride
• Capable to challenge the status quo and asking common sense questions
• Ability to manage multiple tasks while dealing with disruptions and change
• Ability to travel both domestic and international
• Ability to support aircraft modification projects on site during first aircraft installation
