Job summary

Upgrade Resources is seeking a Project Manager / Senior Project Manager for electrical construction across Texas markets. You will lead projects up to $10 million in collaboration with a project superintendent, manage scope, budget, schedule, quality and safety, and foster client relationships.

Qualifications include a 4-year engineering or construction degree, 3+ years PM experience in electrical construction, OSHA-30, NEC knowledge, and willingness to work on-site at Texas locations.

  • Minimum of 3 years of electrical construction project management experience on commercial, industrial, healthcare, mission critical, or institutional projects
  • OSHA-30 certification or ability to obtain within six months from date of hire
  • Working knowledge of electrical systems including the NEC, construction methods, procurement practices, and applicable codes and standards

Role Overview

The Project Manager provides overall management direction on electrical construction projects, with full accountability for scope, budget, schedule, quality, and safety. Depending on level and market, assignments range from smaller projects or a defined portion of a larger complex project, up to full projects valued at $10 million. The role leads each assigned project in partnership with the designated project superintendent, serves as the primary point of contact for clients, general contractors, and field leadership, and develops new business opportunities relative to a particular client, group of clients, industry, or geographic area.

Openings exist across multiple Texas markets. Market preference is discussed during the interview process.

This role may be filled at varying levels, including Project Manager and Senior Project Manager, based on the candidate's skills, experience, and overall qualifications. Final title, level, and compensation will be determined through the interview and assessment process and will be aligned with internal equity and external market benchmarks

Core Responsibilities

  • Provide overall management direction on one or more electrical construction projects, ranging from a defined portion of a larger complex project up to full projects valued at $10 million, with accountability for scope, budget, schedule, quality, and safety
  • Lead each assigned project in partnership with the designated project superintendent, and control project development through administrative direction of the superintendent
  • Evaluate the contractual scope of work, and plan, organize, and staff key project positions through regional department heads and general superintendents
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the client, general contractor, and architect and engineer team, and attend job progress meetings
  • Negotiate, prepare, and issue subcontracts, and manage subcontractor and vendor performance
  • Prepare, issue, and update the master project schedule and variance reports to hold schedule and budget
  • Manage all financial aspects of contracts, including costs, billings, collections, and change orders, and actively pursue additional work through change orders
  • Manage risk; investigate potentially serious situations and implement corrective measures before they reach the schedule
  • Develop new business opportunities relative to a particular client, group of clients, industry, or geographic area
  • Ensure project document controls comply with contract requirements through closeout and as-built delivery
  • Supervise and mentor assistant project managers and project engineers
  • Ensure compliance with safety programs, contract terms, and applicable codes and standards

Required Background

  • 4-year mechanical or electrical engineering or construction science degree, or commensurate levels of technical training and related experience
  • Minimum of3 years of electrical construction project management experience, including commercial, industrial, healthcare, mission critical, or institutional projects
  • OSHA-30 certification, or the ability to obtain it within six months from date of hire
  • Working knowledge of electrical systems including the NEC, construction methods, procurement practices, and applicable codes and standards
  • Project management skills across documentation, cost control, procurement, scheduling, change order pricing, and negotiating
  • Demonstrated ability to develop client and design-team relationships and new business opportunities
  • This role is available to candidates located near our active Texas locations and sites, including Carrollton, Fort Worth, Haltom City, Austin, Pflugerville, Waco, Temple, Houston, Amarillo, Abilene, and Childress
  • Employment is contingent upon satisfying all jobsite-specific access requirements, with no outstanding restrictions from any jobsite, general contractor, owner, or customer
  • Authorization to work in the United States; sponsorship is not available for this position
  • Experience managing electrical projects valued at $10 million or more (Preferred)
  • Experience supervising or mentoring other project managers or assistant project managers(Preferred)
  • Experience with design-build or design-assist electrical delivery(Preferred)
  • Hyperscale data center, hospital, life sciences, higher education, or semiconductor project experience(Preferred)
  • PMP or relevant professional certification(Preferred)
  • Bilingual English and Spanish(Preferred)
