JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Strategic Interdisciplinary Research Office (SIRO) Project Management Office at Penn State is seeking a Research Portfolio Project Manager. This role supports various grants, primarily managing a $21M Department of Energy research center, "Center for 3D Ferroelectric Microelectronics." It involves lifecycle award management, engaging with federal and non-federal grants pre- and post-award.

SIRO is part of the Office of the Senior Vice President for Research (OSVPR), which aims to support faculty and student research, fostering high standards and ethical conduct. SIRO provides support for university-wide, strategic, multi-college, and multi-institutional research efforts.

The position reports to the SIRO Associate Director of Project Management and receives daily guidance from the Principal Investigator.

Responsibilities:
  1. Manage the lifecycle of research administration tasks, including proposal development, award management, reporting, and close-out.
  2. Assign and monitor administrative team tasks during pre- and post-award stages.
  3. Communicate regularly with Principal Investigators, sponsors, and internal teams.
  4. Coordinate multidisciplinary working groups and meetings.
  5. Monitor and forecast project financial health, including budgets and expenditures.
  6. Ensure compliance with sponsor and university guidelines.
  7. Prepare and submit complex reports and assist with audits.
  8. Manage access to sponsored funds and oversee close-out procedures.
  9. Coordinate events and manage project websites and online tools.
  10. Utilize project management tools for tracking and reporting.
  11. Suggest process improvements and create schedules for grant reporting.
  12. Manage travel arrangements for Principal Investigators as needed.
Education and Experience:

A Bachelor's degree with 1+ years of related experience or equivalent, proficiency in MS Office and advanced Excel. Experience in research administration and federal research centers is preferred.

Work Arrangement:

This position offers a Hybrid work arrangement at University Park, PA, with standard EST hours.
