Job description

Airbnb was born in 2007 when two hosts welcomed three guests to their San Francisco home, and has since grown to over 5 million hosts who have welcomed over 2 billion guest arrivals in almost every country across the globe. Every day, hosts offer unique stays and experiences that make it possible for guests to connect with communities in a more authentic way.

Role should be available in PST hours and ideally is located near San Francisco or Los Angeles

The Community You Will Join:
The Space team at Airbnb represents a cross functional group comprising Real Estate, Design & Construction, Space Operations & Management, and Space Central Services. This role will help drive the evolution of Space at Airbnb by guiding the effective transition adoption of its programs, projects, and initiatives. From design to execution and evaluation, this position focuses on monitoring effectiveness, measuring impact, and fostering a strong, trusted feedback loop to enhance continuous improvement. This role will not only support Space transformation initiatives but will also shape how Space’s services and systems evolve; they will help Space shift from traditional office-focused models to dynamic, high-impact workplace experiences.

This role is cross-functional in nature as part of the Space Central Services group and will require a strong partnership across Airbnb’s Employee Experience, Space, and partner teams. The ideal candidate will be able to build strong relationships at all levels of the company and interpret the company's priorities and values into actionable solutions that align the workplace environment and work practices with the Space team’s goals and objectives.

The Difference You Will Make:
We are seeking a proactive and strategic Project Manager of Space Transformation to guide transition management for space initiatives, ensuring seamless execution of projects related to driving effective transition adoption to office design, process & policy updates, and space technology implementations. The ideal candidate will work closely with leadership, project teams, and stakeholders to develop and execute both project and transition management strategies that drive efficiency, enhance collaboration, and optimize the workplace environment.

We are looking for someone who is excited, curious, and feels empowered by the future of work and someone who is an impeccable, and often autonomous, collaborator and communicator who can easily work across a significant number of stakeholders.

A Typical Day:

  • Oversee end-to-end Space project initiatives as assigned, including from discovery to design and execution, ensuring timelines and quality standards are met.
  • Develop a listening strategy as it relates to Space in partnership with our Organizational Design & Learning team that includes:
  • Qualitative listening on an ongoing basis to ensure we are in tune with our workforce on ever-evolving employee sentiment on how we program, design, and deliver on the workplace experience.
  • Formalizing our approach to annual and ad hoc surveys; leading the analysis and response.
  • Partnering with the Space Ops team to cross-compare findings against utilization data.
  • Develop and implement transition management strategies and plans that maximize employee adoption and minimize resistance.
  • Partner with various data and metrics teams to translate employee sentiment and workplace utilization data into actionable strategies for Space programming and workplace transformation.
  • Partner on the design and execution of communication plans to ensure transparency and alignment with stakeholders.
  • Facilitate workshops, meetings, and engagement activities to foster a culture of transition resilience.
  • Monitor and measure the effectiveness of transition initiatives through feedback, surveys, and key performance indicators.
  • Maintain thorough documentation, transition processes, policies, and lessons learned.

Your Expertise:

  • 8+ years program or project management experience
  • Minimum 3 years working in a role with global responsibility and taking a global perspective into account when approaching your work
  • Certification in Change Management (e.g., Prosci, CCMP) a plus.
  • Strong understanding of project management frameworks such as PMP, PRINCE2, Agile, or similar methodologies is a plus.
  • Experience leading large-scale change and project management initiatives.
  • Familiarity with workplace strategy, office redesign, and hybrid work environments.
  • Proven track record of establishing relationships, influencing and negotiating competing priorities with both internal and external partners
  • Exhibit strong analytical, conceptual thinking, strategic planning and execution skills
  • Requires someone with superior written and oral communication skills; including briefing/training skills, and the ability to have executive presence while also being someone that excels at sitting back and listening.
  • Highly adaptable and flexible
  • A positive attitude and hunger for learning and growth
  • Creative and entrepreneurial
  • Demonstrated commitment to Airbnb’s core values
