Responsibilities

  • Generate and maintain integrated master schedules, work plans, and roadmaps for complex engineering design efforts.
  • Drive collaboration between engineering, procurement, testing, finance, and stakeholders.
  • Identify risks, develop mitigation plans, and provide technical solutions.
  • Translate complex technical details into actionable plans for stakeholders and executives.
  • Establish and support PM best practices and methodologies.
  • Manage workforce, staffing, and resource profiles across the directorate during the annual budget cycle.

Job Description

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory has an excellent opportunity for a Project Manager (PM) within Reactor Servicing (RS). The PM in the Fleet Support Integration and Controls unit will be a key interface between the engineering teams, business management, senior/executive management, and key stakeholders, including Naval Reactors. The PM will be responsible for providing leadership and helping drive complex, cross-functional, multi-disciplinary projects across the RS directorate. The PM will provide oversight and execution of strategic project planning and financial controls, technical and project integration, and baseline performance reporting. We are looking for a motivated project manager who will continue to push project management principles and bridge the gap between the technical and business management teams to support the mission within RS.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Planning & Execution: Define project scopes as part of a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and WBS Dictionary. Generate and maintain integrated master schedules, work plans, and roadmaps for complex engineering design efforts.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Drive collaboration between engineering, procurement, testing, finance, internal and external stakeholders, and senior/executive management.
  • Risk Management: Identify risks, develop mitigation plans, and provide technical solutions.
  • Technical Communication: Translate complex technical details into actionable plans for stakeholders and executive leadership.
  • Process Improvement: Establish and support PM best practices and methodologies.
  • Resource & Budget Tracking: Manage workforce, staffing, and resource profiles across the directorate as part of the annual budget cycle.
Required Combination Of Knowledge And Skill
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience; or
  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
Preferred Skills
  • Current or previous experience as a project manager or project engineer.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with diverse stakeholders and teams.
  • Demonstrated strong writing skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly, concisely, and effectively to various audiences.
  • Experience preparing project performance reports in complex or high-profile project environments.

Pay Range

$86,100.00 - $134,600.00 annually

Salary information provided is a general guideline only. Annual salary is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC (FMP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation. Naval Nuclear Laboratory personnel are FMP employees who work at four DOE facilities: Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory, Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory, Kenneth A. Kesselring Site, and Naval Reactors Facility, and at the U.S. Department of Defense-owned Nuclear Power Training Unit-Charleston. FMP employees also have an established presence at numerous shipyards and vendor locations. For nearly 70 years, the Naval Nuclear Laboratory has developed advanced nuclear propulsion technology, provided technical support, and trained world-class nuclear operators to ensure the safe and reliable operation of our nation's submarine and aircraft carrier Fleets.
