Job summary

Enel North America is seeking a Project Manager for its Engineering & Construction team to lead complex renewable energy initiatives from initiation to handover. You will collaborate with operations, financing partners, and regional teams to deliver on time, within budget, and with high safety and quality standards.

The role requires engineering credentials, 5+ years of PM experience in energy projects, and strong stakeholder management, budgeting, and scheduling skills.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with 5+ years of related Engineering/Construction experience.
  • 2+ years’ experience managing project teams.
  • 2+ years’ experience in renewable energy projects.
  • Track record of managing complex projects (e.g., 300MW wind/solar or 50MW hydro/geothermal).
  • Knowledge of quality control/assurance and electrical distribution/control systems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead project execution from Charter through handover to customers and operations/financing partners.
  • Develop and maintain the Project Management Plan, including schedule, budget, procurement, communication, quality, risk.
  • Coordinate PSC resources and cross-functional teams to meet project targets.
  • Manage supplier/contractor relationships and procurement processes.

Job description

If you want to shape the future of energy, we are looking for a Project Manager to join our Engineering & Construction team!

Responsibilities
  • Manage the project’s execution from the approved Project Charter to the final handover to the relevant customers (Operation & Maintenance unit and financing partners).
  • Prepare and continuously update the Project Management Plan, including time schedule, budget definition/contingencies allocation, procurement plan, communication, quality, stakeholder and risk management plans.
  • Manage deviations and changes to ensure the achievement of the assigned project goals.
  • Coordinate all E&C resources assigned to the project and the resources of the Staff Units (Safety, Procurement, Legal, Grid Integration, AFC, Regulatory Affairs, Communication, Corporate Social Responsibility) to ensure the achievement of all project targets across departments.
  • Manage relationships with the main stakeholders (suppliers, contractors, local communities and administrations) to minimize conflicts and risks.
  • Report to the EGP NA E&C Vice President and EGP Top Management about the status and progress of the assigned projects.
  • Support Business Development during all phases of opportunity assessment (due diligence, feasibility study, investment memorandum, budget, risk matrix, etc.).
  • Coordinate the initial hand‑over with the relevant Region/Country Business Development unit and the final hand‑over with the customer (usually the Operation & Maintenance department).
  • Coordinate project planning and schedule with the Project Planning and Cost Control unit, identifying and implementing necessary corrective actions.
  • Coordinate project budget with the Project Planning and Cost Control unit, identifying and implementing necessary corrective actions.
  • Support the Procurement Department during all phases of the procurement process (scouting, Procurement Plan, RFPs, proposal evaluation, claims).
  • Manage relationships with suppliers and contractors in collaboration with Contract Management, Expediting & Logistic units, and Coordination with Construction and Procurement units.
  • Manage relationships with Customers and Stakeholders in agreement with other relevant units of the Global Renewable Energies business line.
  • Lead the project team to achieve the project targets, starting from safety, and coordinate/attend project meetings.
  • Coordinate production of weekly/monthly project progress reports and inform senior management of project status.
  • Manage Project Closure and the Close Out Report with relevant lessons learned.
  • Coach and mentor assigned resources to promote skill improvement and professional growth.
Qualifications
  • Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and 5+ years of Engineering and Construction experience in Power Generation, Renewable Energy, or Large Industrial Engineering and Construction facilities.
  • 2+ years’ experience managing personnel of a project team.
  • 2+ years’ experience managing projects in renewable energy.
  • Track record of successful project management of complex projects (300MW wind/solar or more, 50MW hydro/geothermal or more).
  • Knowledge of quality control and quality assurance methods and programs.
  • Understanding of power plant construction methods and programs.
  • Knowledge of Electrical Distribution and Control Systems.
  • Knowledge of Power Plant Operation.
  • Aptitude to work with different technologies (Wind, Solar, Geothermal, Hydro, BES).
  • Ability to apply and promote digitalization and innovation in work activities.
  • Skill in project management practices (PMI certification or equivalent) and problem solving.
  • Skill in cash flow, financial modeling, taxes, and budget management.
  • Organizational skills with ability to manage and implement procedural changes.
  • Ability to mentor peers and create avenues for knowledge sharing across teams.
  • Ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, Excel, MS Project, PowerPoint.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively support and work well with people from different disciplines.
  • Superior organizational skills and detail orientation to ensure accuracy and quality.
  • Strong client‑facing and internal communication skills.
  • Adaptability and flexibility to manage deadline pressure, ambiguity and change.
  • Ability to independently prioritize and manage multiple tasks/projects and meet deadlines.
  • Highly developed business acumen.
  • Ability to work within a global framework and a matrix organization.
  • Fluent in English is required; Spanish and/or Italian is considered a plus.
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment is preferred.
  • Up to 35% domestic travel and 10% international travel.
  • A valid driver’s license operable in all 50 states and Canada and a clean driving record. A clean driving record means:
    • In the last 3 years, no driving‑related suspension, revocation or cancellation, no disqualifying offenses, no more than 2 moving violations and no reckless driving incidents.
    • In the last 5 years, no major driving offenses including DUI/DWI, refusal to test, leaving the scene, driving a commercial vehicle without a CDL, or at‑fault fatal accident.
Benefits

The pay range for this position is $124,725.51 – $187,088.27 annually. The base pay actually offered will be based on several factors, including job‑related knowledge, skills, work experience, education, and internal equity.
