Job description

Lume Consulting Group is seeking a Project Manager consultant to support oversight and coordination of Stage 3 and Stage 4 activities within the California Project Approval Lifecycle (PAL).

Role Overview

This role will operate during Stage 3 (Solution Development) and Stage 4 (Project Readiness and Approval) of California’s PAL. In Stage 3, the focus is on defining detailed solution requirements, developing procurement strategies (e.g., RFPs), and ensuring alignment with business and technical needs. Stage 4 centers on finalizing contracts, establishing implementation baselines (cost, schedule, resources), and ensuring the project is fully prepared for execution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop detailed solution requirements and user stories
  • Validate that business needs are addressed
  • Participate in Business Process Reengineering (BPR) and Joint Application Development (JAD) sessions
  • Assist in preparing a Request for Proposal (RFP) for selecting a solution provider
  • Support successful transition into implementation
Qualifications
  • PMP certification
  • Minimum 5 years of project management experience, with 3 in a senior or lead role (preferably 7 years PM and 5 years as Senior PM)
  • 2 years’ experience working with government (4 years preferred)
  • 3 years of team building, knowledge transfer, and/or mentoring experience (5 years preferred)
  • 2 years of consulting experience for projects worth at least $2M (4 years preferred)
