Job description

Are you a collaborative professional with experience delivering mission-critical data center design and construction projects? Otak CPM (Comprehensive Project Management) is hiring a remote Project Manager to join our growing team. This role requires at least 3 years of experience working in data center construction environments, along with experience serving as an Owner’s Representative. The Project Manager role requires leaders who excel at managing people, processes, and complex projects. Ideal candidates have a proven track record of building strong, productive partnerships through effective relationship-building, sound industry knowledge, and consistent delivery of successful project outcomes in design and construction environments. As the primary client contact for a diverse portfolio of work, you will lead multiple projects across the United States. This role involves navigating complex design and planning efforts, engaging a broad range of stakeholders, and collaborating with architects, engineers, contractors, and other project partners to gather input, solve problems, and guide projects through key milestones on behalf of our clients.

How You'll Contribute
  • Lead multiple concurrent datacenter construction projects of varying size, complexity, and phase, from early planning through completion.
  • Oversee the delivery of greenfield, brownfield, and retrofit engineering and design projects through all phases, including site due diligence, land development, detailed design, permitting, construction administration, and turnover to Operations.
  • Manage internal and external resources to support building, power, cooling, telecom, and controls scope in alignment with client capacity roadmaps.
  • Coordinate internal client stakeholders and external consultants, including architects, engineers, contractors, and specialty vendors.
  • Facilitate problem-solving and support the incorporation of new equipment and operational processes.
  • Provide design and construction coordination for datacenter projects, guiding key decisions and maintaining alignment with client goals.
  • Oversee datacenter design and construction work across the Americas, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and quality.
  • Build strong, productive relationships with clients and project partners while providing subject matter insight and ensuring successful project delivery.
  • Collaborate and cross-train with Otak team members to improve efficiency, quality, and project delivery.
The Strengths You Bring:
  • Engineering Degree in: Architecture, Civil, Structural, Mechanical, or Construction disciplines.
  • 7+ years of progressively responsible experience in construction or design-related fields, including 3+ years in data center construction environments and experience serving as an Owner's Representative.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) or Registered Architect (RA) a plus.
  • Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical teams in a fast-paced, dynamic setting and adapt quickly to shifting priorities.
  • Proven ability to lead engineering teams in advanced engineering and operational processes for large datacenter and critical-facility environments, while managing personnel, budgets, schedules, and complex project portfolios.
  • PMP and/or CMIT certification (or active pursuit); OSHA 10 Certification.
  • Experience with commercial and high-tech construction, including retrofits; familiarity with all phases of design and construction management.
  • Demonstrated success managing multiple design projects of varying complexity and stage.
  • Solid understanding of regulatory requirements, land-use processes for green-field construction/site, and contractual change management.
  • Advanced oral and effective written communication skills and experience in meeting facilitation and a growing competency in exercise facilitation (e.g., RACI and other project management tools).
  • Working knowledge of AI tools, SharePoint, Smartsheet, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Project, and construction management software.
  • Proven experience managing projects in a virtual/remote environment, with willingness to travel as needed.

Salary Range: $120,000 - 150,000 per year
