Overview

GovCIO is currently seeking a Project Manager to become a subject matter expert on our Team. This position is fully remote, full time and available to candidates within the Continental United States (CONUS).

Please note: The contract has not been awarded; this position remains unfunded and is contingent upon the award of the contract.

Responsibilities

GovCIO is seeking a candidate for the position of Project Manager to support the Department of Veterans Affairs BAM Portfolio. The Project Manager will be a hands-on leader who will be responsible for day-to-day direct oversight of 1+ application sustainment/enhancement project(s).

  • Responsible for the direct oversight of legacy system sustainment/enhancement/adaptive maintenance project, including the supervisory responsibilities for multiple lead roles.
  • Responsible for leading the team in requirements gathering, enhancements, releases etc. and ensuring completion of contract deliverables.
  • Ensure Agile/Scrum techniques are being utilized and the project is managed following an Agile Methodology.
  • Responsible for proactive risk management and ensuring all risks are escalated to the appropriate persons.
  • Engage with stakeholders at all levels, creating tactics to establish and maintain appropriate stakeholder engagement.
  • Engage with the team to ensure they stay motivated, proactive, and focused.
  • Ensure organized change management throughout the life of the project.
  • Ensure all project needs are met and escalate blockers to program management.
  • Participate in interviewing/hiring of replacement or new employees, where appropriate.
  • Responsible for the career growth and performance evaluations of all direct reports.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's with 2-5 years (or commensurate experience).
  • Experience leading a team in an IT system environment.
  • Experience managing a Scrum/Agile team with experience using Jira.
  • Experience working with customer to establish requirements, PI Planning and seeing a project move through the software development lifecycle.
  • Strong problem solving skills.
  • Competence in Microsoft Suite.
  • Strong verbal and written skills.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to step in, where needed.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Experience working with the VA.
  • Experiencing overseeing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience supporting program goals.
  • Experience collaborating with other project leaders.

Clearance Required: Ability to obtain and maintain a Suitability/Public Trust clearance.
