Prysmian is seeking a Manufacturing/Process Engineer to lead Lean Sigma initiatives on a 24/7 production floor in Texas. You will manage process improvements, use DOE and SPC methods, and drive safety and efficiency improvements across facilities.

The role requires 2+ years in manufacturing, strong PM skills, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams while traveling up to 50% as needed. A technical degree is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in ME, EE, IE, CE (MS in related fields considered with experience).
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in manufacturing process design, re-design, installation and maintenance.
  • Proven track record in fast-paced manufacturing environments with strong PM abilities.
  • Experience using DOE and SPC techniques; Six Sigma knowledge is a plus.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex tasks and strong verbal/written communication.
  • Flexible to support a 24/7 facility and travel up to 50%.

  • Lead safety initiatives and advance our Zero & Beyond safety culture.
  • Develop, document, implement and sustain manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • Provide hands-on troubleshooting on the shop floor to drive root cause analysis.
  • Baseline control systems understanding and perform capital equipment justification.
  • Coach teams, train others, and share best practices across the operation.
  • Improve yield, efficiency, and capacity in line with business objectives.

Team Overview and Responsibilities: Reporting to the Manager of Engineering, the position holder will exhibit energetic project management of process improvements that impact the bottom line in an exciting, challenging and performance driven organization.

  • Demonstrate safety leadership and advance our Zero & Beyond safety culture.
  • Share expertise through training and leading others in the use of best practices.
  • Generate and evaluate the risk / reward priority of improvement opportunities.
  • Be an advocate for Lean Sigma thinking.
  • Achieve results and ensure sustainment of process controls (CTQ’s & CTP”s).
  • Lead and influence teams of diverse individuals at various levels within the organization.
  • Improve yield, efficiency, and capacity of processes in accordance with strategic business objectives.
  • Develop, document, implement and sustain manufacturing processes and products using appropriate data and statistical tools.
  • Baseline understanding and utilization of control systems and instrumentation used to improve process capabilities.
  • Specification, procurement and commissioning of new manufacturing equipment and instrumentation, including capital cost justification and related documentation.
  • Maintain constant presence on the shop floor and provide hands on troubleshooting of manufacturing processes and equipment to drive root cause analysis and corrective action.
  • Maintain performance specifications and bills of material for all current products.
  • Perform Lean Facilitator duties as required to implement and sustain lean initiatives throughout your area of responsibility.
Who are we looking for?
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in ME, EE, IE, CE and MS (Other technical degrees considered when supported with applicable experience, Manufacturing experience desirable).
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience.
  • Proven track record of results in the design, re-design, installation, operation and maintenance of manufacturing processes and equipment utilized in a continuous operation.
  • A result driven individual with a proven track record in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong project management abilities.
  • Proven ability to use DOE and SPC techniques (Six Sigma Greenbelt/Blackbelt experience is a plus).
  • Able to manage and execute multiple, complex tasks and deal easily with pressure daily.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Flexible work schedule to support facility that runs 24 hrs. a day, 7 days week.
  • Ability to travel 50% of the time
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 2 years’ wire & cable experience manufacturing of thermoplastic or thermoset conductors.
  • Project management training or certification.
  • Lean Sigma practitioner.
