Job summary

Yates Construction seeks a Project Manager to lead a direct-hire power project, ensuring it is completed on time and within budget while satisfying the client. You will guide the project team and coordinate with the client to protect both parties’ interests.

Key duties include safety leadership, managing subcontractors and suppliers, QA/QC, daily progress reporting, and developing site logistics with the General Superintendent.

Qualifications

  • Minimum five (5) years of construction management experience.
  • Experience in managing trades valued at $50MM.
  • Experience with large/complex safety plan implementation.
  • PMP certified preferred.
  • Proficient with Primavera, Excel, Word, and MS Project.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the safety program for the project.
  • Oversee subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers to support schedule delivery and scope.
  • Perform QA/QC to meet project specifications and Yates quality standards.
  • Develop and maintain site logistics plans with the General Superintendent.
  • Coordinate preconstruction meetings and manage field progress and communications.
  • Represent the site team in owners’ meetings.
  • Manage project close-out and punch list processes.

Required to have management experience on direct-hire power projects. ACC experience with Combined Cycle is preferred.

Job Summary

The Project Manager (PM) develops, coordinates, implements, and manages all facets necessary to construct the project on time, within budget, and to the client’s satisfaction. The PM provides leadership and serves as the liaison between project team members and the client to promote the interests of both Yates and the client in all matters. The PM is the primary leader for the construction project and is charged with utilizing their experience and knowledge to make expeditious decisions, model efficiency, and run projects efficiently.

Primary Duties
  • Leading in administering the safety program for the project
  • Ensuring superintendents have the necessary trades, materials, and equipment available to efficiently construct the project
  • Overseeing subcontractors, vendors, suppliers, etc. to support project schedule delivery and scope of work commitments
  • Performing and overseeing project-specific QA/QC practices to ensure projects are delivered to project specifications and Yates’ standards of quality
  • Completing and communicating daily reports of activities that were scheduled and completed, along with other communications regarding the project’s progress to all stakeholders
  • Completing walk-throughs of the site to ensure safety, cleanliness, and standards are maintained
  • Identifying and resolving field and design issues
  • Leading meetings to coordinate work and manage labor concerns
  • Representing the site team in owners’ meetings
  • Developing and maintaining the site logistics plan for the project in conjunction with the General Superintendent
  • Developing scopes of work for each subcontractor
  • Performing constructability reviews
  • Arranging and leading preconstruction meetings with all subcontractors before beginning each phase of work
  • Tracking field progress against the “plan,” assisting in the development of the recovery plans if necessary
  • Participating in ensuring quality control is in accordance with the established project quality assurance program
  • Scheduling and leading the project close-out process
  • Coordinating punch list items and procedures
  • Managing the project permit process
  • Participating in the development of strategic plans including VDC

    • Responsible for refusing unsafe work and for carrying out all work by the established Yates Safety Procedures and Work Practices
    • Report all incidents, near hits, and hazards to management.

    • Participate in workplace inspections.
    • Comply with statutory requirements, including the duty of care.
    • Participate in required and/or assigned training.
    • Provide suggestions to improve Safety.
    • Present a mature approach to working safely.
    • Attend pre-start and Safety meetings and contribute.
    • Assist with administering the site safety program as required and ensuring Trade Partner compliance with OSHA standards and Yates Site Specific Requirements, and all applicable safety codes and regulations.
  • Other related duties as needed and assigned by Management in support of the successful completion of the project.
Qualifications
  • An undergraduate University degree or higher (preferably in Construction Management, Engineering, or a closely related field) is preferred
    • Other relevant education, training, or work experience may substitute for a bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum of five (5) years of construction management experience
  • Experience in managing trades valued at $50MM
  • Experience with large/complex safety plan implementation
  • PMP certified preferred

  • Strong working knowledge of programs such as Primavera, Excel, Word, and MS Project

  • Effective negotiation and contract management skills to represent the company with the Client
  • Experience in managing a project using established methods of cost reporting, i.e., cash flow, safety, cost, schedule, VDC
  • Extensive knowledge of all facets of construction
  • A proven track record of organizing project team to accomplish project goals
  • Understand contract types and terms, i.e., General Conditions, Burn Rates, Fee Analysis
  • Understand various insurance programs, i.e., SDI, BR policies, OCIP, CCIP
