Job summary

CAMS is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead planning, execution, and governance of large capital projects in power generation and energy infrastructure. The role serves as the primary owner‑side execution authority, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and compliant with all requirements.

The PM collaborates with engineers, construction, controls, EPC partners, and O&M teams to meet objectives while applying disciplined change management and risk

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience managing major capital projects in power generation, heavy industrial, or EPC environments.
  • Proven success as Owner’s Representative or senior project lead for EPC projects with cost, schedule, and risk responsibility.
  • Strong understanding of project controls, contract management, risk mitigation, and decision governance.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and decision‑making skills with cross‑functional influence.

Job description

CAMS is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the planning, execution, and governance of large, high‑value capital projects within the power generation and energy infrastructure sectors.

The Project Manager serves as the primary owner‑side execution authority, responsible for delivering assigned projects safely, on schedule, within budget, and in full compliance with contractual, regulatory, and technical requirements. This position provides strategic leadership across engineering, procurement, and construction activities, while ensuring disciplined change management, risk mitigation, and alignment among all project stakeholders.

The Project Manager works closely with Project Engineers (technical authority), the Project Construction Manager (field execution authority), Project Controller – Information & Governance, Project Controls, schedulers, EPC partners, and station O&M teams to ensure project objectives are fully met.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Project Execution & Governance
  • Serve as CAMS’ primary point of accountability for overall project success.
  • Develop, maintain, and enforce project governance structures, execution plans, and reporting frameworks.
  • Manage project scope, budget, schedule, risk, quality, and change control in alignment with Owner expectations.
  • Ensure all work is executed in accordance with contractual obligations, technical requirements, safety standards, and regulatory obligations.
  • Provide structured decision‑support, project direction, and leadership to cross‑functional teams.
Stakeholder & Contractor Management
  • Act as the principal interface between CAMS, Owner representatives, EPC project management, and external stakeholders.
  • Lead executive‑level reporting, project briefings, and communication of key decisions, risks, and mitigation strategies.
  • Build strong working relationships with EPC partners and contractors, supporting timely issue resolution and escalation when required.
  • Maintain disciplined documentation supporting transparency, traceability, and claims avoidance.
Integration with Engineering & Construction
  • Coordinate closely with the Project Engineer to ensure engineering deliverables meet project and construction needs.
  • Align with the Project Construction Manager to synchronize engineering, procurement, construction sequencing, and outage planning.
  • Ensure timely review of design packages, technical submittals, and field change requests.
  • Reinforce rigorous change management processes to minimize commercial exposure and prevent scope creep.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related discipline; or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience managing major capital projects in power generation, heavy industrial, or EPC‑driven environments.
  • Proven success acting as an Owner’s Representative or senior project lead for EPC projects, with responsibility for cost, schedule, and risk outcomes.
  • Strong understanding of project controls, contract management, risk mitigation, and decision governance.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and decision‑making skills, with the ability to influence across functions.
Preferred
  • Experience delivering power plant upgrades, environmental retrofits, or utility‑scale infrastructure projects.
  • Familiarity with state or federally regulated project environments.
  • PMP or equivalent project management certification.
  • Experience navigating high‑complexity projects requiring intensive stakeholder coordination.
Working Conditions
  • Power generation facility construction environment
  • Exposure to heat, cold, noise, dust, fumes, heights, and uneven terrain
  • Extended hours and shift work may be required

Applicants must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a clean driving record, as this position requires occasional travel for company business. Candidates should be comfortable operating a vehicle as part of their job responsibilities and must meet any applicable company and insurance requirements.
