Job summary

Sigma Engineers & Constructors is seeking an experienced Project Manager to support ongoing capital and maintenance projects at one of our client sites in Geismar, LA. The role is embedded on-site to lead planning and execution of refinery-based projects, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with operational requirements.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or related field.
• 5–10+ years of project management experience in refining, petrochemical, or industrial plants.
• Proven on-site refinery or heavy industrial experience.
• Strong understanding of refinery operations, maintenance workflows, and live-plant project execution.
• Experience with turnarounds, MOCs, and capital project delivery.

Responsibilities

• Manage and execute capital, maintenance, and turnaround-related projects within a refinery/plant environment
• Develop project scopes, cost estimates, schedules, and execution plans aligned with refinery objectives
• Coordinate with plant operations to plan work around unit outages, shutdowns, and production constraints
• Ensure compliance with refinery safety protocols, permitting processes (LOTO, hot work, confined space), and site requirements
• Manage contractors, vendors, and subcontractors performing work on-site
• Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies
• Oversee field execution activities and reviews of deliverables in real time
• Coordinate with procurement and construction teams to ensure timely delivery of materials and resources
• Track scope changes with proper documentation and support refinery reliability initiatives

WHAT WE NEED:

Sigma Engineers & Constructors is seeking an experienced Project Manager to support ongoing capital and maintenance projects at one of our client sites in Geismar, La.

This position will be embedded at the client site and will lead the planning and execution of refinery-based projects, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with operational requirements.

Responsibilities:

• Manage and execute capital, maintenance, and turnaround-related projects within a refinery/plant environment
• Develop project scopes, cost estimates, schedules, and execution plans aligned with refinery objectives
• Coordinate closely with plant operations to plan work around unit outages, shutdowns, and production constraints
• Ensure compliance with all refinery safety protocols, work permitting processes (LOTO, hot work, confined space, etc.), and site-specific requirements
• Manage contractors, vendors, and subcontractors performing work onsite
• Identify project risks (operational, safety, schedule, cost) and implement mitigation strategies
• Oversee field execution activities, including site walks, constructability reviews, and issue resolution in real time
• Review and ensure quality of engineering deliverables, drawings, and installation packages
• Coordinate with procurement and construction teams to ensure timely delivery of materials and resources
• Track and manage scope changes, ensuring proper documentationSupport refinery reliability and continuous improvement initiatives

WHO WE NEED:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
• 5-10+ years of project management experience in refining, petrochemical, or industrial plant environments
• Proven experience working onsite at refineries or similar heavy industrial facilities
• Strong understanding of refinery operations, maintenance workflows, and project execution in live plant environments
• Experience with turnarounds, MOCs, and capital project delivery
• PMP certification preferred
