NiSource is seeking a MidLevel Project Manager for New Power Generation Construction in the United States. The role plans, coordinates, and executes gas transmission and distribution capital projects, overseeing lifecycle stages from planning to closeout while ensuring safety, schedule, and budget compliance.

The position requires collaborative work with internal stakeholders, contractors, municipalities, and regulators to deliver safe and cost-effective projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or related field or equivalent experience.
  • PMI PMP certification is preferred for this role.
  • Minimum 9 years of total experience in related construction projects.
  • Experience with budgets, forecasts, and cost controls is required.

Responsibilities

  • Independently manages planning, estimating, permitting, scheduling, and risk analysis for assigned projects.
  • Establishes and maintains project scope, schedule, cost baselines, and change management processes.
  • Leads material procurement, engineering services coordination, pipeline interconnects, land agreements, and reimbursements.
  • Prepares projects for bidding and supports contractor selection and contract administration.
  • Monitors field construction activities to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality execution.
  • Provides construction support for internal and external customers.
  • Manages project budgets, forecasts, capital spend tracking, and invoice approvals.
  • Ensures projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and with minimal regulatory issues.
  • Coordinates with project controls, inspectors, engineering, land services, and operations to resolve issues.
  • Builds relationships with contractors, municipalities, and local authorities.
  • Communicates project status, risks, mitigation strategies, and performance metrics to stakeholders.
  • Supports engineering, new business, and sales by developing cost estimates and feasibility input.
  • Collaborates across NiSource companies to promote cost-effective project execution.

Job Summary

The Project Manager - New Power Generation Construction is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing gas transmission and distribution capital projects, including complex and highprofile initiatives requiring specialized project management oversight. This role manages key phases of the project life cycle-planning, estimating, permitting, procurement, construction oversight, inservice facilitation, and closeout-while ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with all applicable codes and standards.

The Project Manager collaborates with internal stakeholders, contractors, municipalities, and regulatory agencies to ensure safe, reliable, and costeffective project delivery. This role applies sound project management judgment and independently manages assigned projects while escalating significant risks or issues as appropriate. The position supports Engineering, New Business, Sales & Services, and Local Operations through strong communication, coordination, and stakeholder partnership.

Essential Functions
  • Independently manages planning, estimating, permitting, scheduling, and risk analysis for assigned projects
  • Establishes and maintains project scope, schedule, cost baselines, and change management processes
  • Leads material procurement, engineering services coordination, pipeline interconnects, land agreements, and reimbursements
  • Prepares projects for bidding and supports contractor selection and contract administration
  • Monitors field construction activities to ensure safe, efficient, and highquality execution in accordance with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Provides construction support for internal and external customers
  • Actively manages project budgets, forecasts, capital spend tracking, and invoice approvals
  • Ensures projects are completed in a safe and reliable manner, within 5% of approved cost estimates, on schedule, and without significant regulatory notices, violations, or citations
  • Coordinates with project controls, inspectors, engineering, land services, and operations to resolve issues and manage dependencies
  • Builds and maintains effective relationships with contractors, municipalities, and local authorities
  • Communicates project status, risks, mitigation strategies, and performance metrics to stakeholders
  • Supports Engineering, New Business, and Sales & Services by developing cost estimates and project feasibility input
  • Collaborates with peers across NiSource companies and industry partners to promote costeffective project execution and continuous improvement
  • Applies local operations input into project planning and execution to support seamless turnover and longterm operability
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or related field or equivalent experience (minimum 9 years total experience)
  • 5+ years of experience managing constructionrelated projects
  • 3+ years of experience managing project budgets, forecasts, and cost controls
  • Working knowledge of operations support systems (e.g., WMS or similar tools)
  • Valid instate driver's license upon hire
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience working directly with pipeline construction contractor
  • Working knowledge of local, state, and federal operating and construction codes
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification (PMI)
  • Experience supporting large, complex, or highvisibility infrastructure projects
Physical Demands

Salary Range*

$96,600.00 - $144,900.00

*The salary offered to a candidate is based on several factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills, job-related knowledge, and relevant experience, as well as internal pay equity.
