Description
This position is located at Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis, IN within the Milk Lab. This is a full time, primarily day shift position - but coverage on weekends and evenings may be required to ensure the Milk Lab is fully staffed.
You must hold your Clinical Dietitian license in Indiana to be considered for this position.
- Collaboration with clinical dietitian, milk lab, medical, and nursing teams for communication and education on infant, pediatric, and adult enteral formula and ONS formulary.
- Respond to Milk Lab incident reports and develop and implement corrective and preventive action plans
- Implement quality improvement initiatives to minimize errors, enhance process efficiency, and improve overall patient safety outcomes
- Manage recalls of infant and pediatric formulas including patient tracking, recall documentation, submission of affected patients to appropriate supervising agencies and medical teams, determination of interim clinical substitutions, and sourcing alternative product
- Maintain and update the Milk Lab inpatient recipe binder, including the creation of new recipes and the development of associated nutrient profiles
- Develop and maintain Milk Lab Best Practice Manual
- Manage Milk Depot inventory, including communication with families to coordinate the pick-up or donation of donor milk to The Milk Bank
- Develop formula and human milk management competencies for milk lab staff
- Coordinate Infant and Pediatric Feeding Preparation certificate course for milk lab staff
- Staff Milk Lab when needed
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree is required. Master's Degree is preferred.
- Requires 3-5 years of relevant experience.
- Requires an active Registered Dietitian license through the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency within 6 months of hire.
- Holds a specialist certification through CDR or other approved governing body.
- Successfully complete Formula/Human Milk Technician Certification within 1 year of hire.
- Requires knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to the storage, preparation, and dispensing of human milk and formula in a health care facility.
- Requires demonstrated knowledge of quality improvement methodologies.
