Performance Contracting, Inc. is seeking an experienced Project Manager - Mechanical Insulation for its Madison 574 operations in Sun Prairie, WI.

You will manage the full lifecycle of mechanical insulation projects, coordinate with clients and subcontractors, and lead field operations to deliver on time and within budget. The role emphasizes safety, schedule development, and collaboration across multiple trades.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of professional construction project management experience.
  • Experience in mechanical insulation scope of construction subcontracts is preferred.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret specifications and drawings for PCI's scopes of work.

Responsibilities

  • Manage full lifecycle of mechanical insulation projects from pre-construction to closeout.
  • Oversee budgets, forecasting, and P&L for assigned projects.
  • Coordinate with clients, general contractors, field teams, and subcontractors to ensure successful project execution.
  • Lead field operations, including labor planning, productivity tracking, and performance management of crews and supervisors.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring milestones are met and risks are addressed.
  • Identify, evaluate, and mitigate project risks to avoid delays or cost impacts.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies across projects.
  • Review drawings and submittals to ensure scope accuracy and proper installation.
  • Oversee change orders, RFIs, and project documentation for accurate records.

Job Description

PCI is seeking an experienced Project Manager - Mechanical Insulation for its PCI Madison 574 operations based in Sun Prairie, WI. This individual will be responsible for the following duties:



  • Manage the full lifecycle of mechanical insulation projects (pre-construction through closeout), including planning, execution, and final delivery

  • Oversee project financials, including budgeting, forecasting, cost tracking, and overall profit & loss responsibility for assigned projects

  • Coordinate with clients, general contractors, field teams, and subcontractors to ensure successful project execution and alignment with project goals

  • Lead and direct field operations, including labor planning, productivity tracking, and performance management of crews and supervisors

  • Develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring milestones are met and proactively addressing delays or risks

  • Identify, evaluate, and mitigate project risks, resolving jobsite issues to avoid rework, delays, or cost impacts

  • Ensure compliance with all safety standards, company policies, and client requirements, maintaining a strong safety culture across projects

  • Manage procurement of materials and equipment specific to mechanical insulation systems (pipe, duct, vessel insulation, etc.)

  • Review drawings, specifications, and submittals to ensure scope accuracy and proper installation of insulation systems

  • Oversee change orders, RFIs, and project documentation to maintain accurate project records and financial alignment

  • Collaborate across multiple trades to coordinate insulation installation with mechanical systems, ensuring proper sequencing and system readiness

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, vendors, and internal teams to drive repeat business and project success

  • Lead project meetings, communicate updates with stakeholders, and provide clear reporting on progress, risks, and financial status

  • Mentor and develop project engineers and field team members, supporting team growth and long‑term success


Salary Range: $94,000-$126,000 annual salary plus non‑guaranteed annualized bonus program


This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.


This position is safety sensitive


Basic Requirements


  • Must have at least 3-5 years of professional experience on construction projects

  • Must have experience in the mechanical insulation scope of construction subcontracts

  • Strong ability to read and interpret specifications and drawings for PCI's scopes of work

  • Has a strong record of establishing and maintaining successful vendor relationships

  • Displays excellent verbal communication

  • Possesses a high level of attention to detail

  • Must have proficiency with digital construction takeoff and software

  • Must be able to effectively collaborate within a team


Preferred Requirements


  • Experience with working with union representatives.

  • OSHA Certification.

  • Local to the Madison, WI metro area is preferred
