Project Manager - Mechanical/Electrical
We are looking for a highly experienced Project Manager with a background in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering to lead projects from concept through design, bidding, negotiation, and construction administration. The role serves as the primary contact between our office and clients, building relationships and ensuring client objectives are met.
Responsibilities
- Maintain primary one‑to‑one contact with the client.
- Understand client needs and organizational goals.
- Draft proposals for new projects with existing clients, track through award, and develop additional work.
- Attend regular design meetings with the client and issue minutes.
- Lead, organize, and schedule design team staff.
- Organize and direct frequent in‑house design meetings.
- Approve and oversee design and construction documents, including signing and sealing as Engineer or Record.
- Coordinate with Design Discipline Managers to schedule, plan and assign appropriate personnel.
- Organize and maintain project design folder.
- Document meetings and telephone conversations.
- Provide quality control to ensure client needs are accommodated and coordinate among all disciplines.
- Provide on‑the‑spot advice and decisions to Owner.
- Advise on project billing and assist in collections.
- Supervise and coordinate the submission of documents to the appropriate reviewing authorities.
- Coordinate responses to reviews, ensuring they are reflected in drawings and specifications.
- Arrange for in‑house quality review in a timely fashion.
- Arrange and attend pre‑bid conferences and issue minutes and addenda.
- Conduct bid openings and prepare/issue certified bid tabulation, ensuring CA phase positions the company in a positive standing with the client.
- Perform site visits and inspections to support Construction Administration requirements.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) or ability to obtain licensure through reciprocity within six months of placement.
- 10+ years of experience preferred.
- Knowledge of construction process, familiar with AIA contracts.
- Self‑motivated with highly developed verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
- Well organized, with good understanding of plumbing, mechanical, electrical, and life safety systems; general knowledge of applicable codes, national standards, client design standards, system operation, space requirements, and cost.
