Overview

Primary Purpose: Provide engineering technical development, oversight, project execution, and project management responsibilities in support of a broad range of water facility projects including pipelines, storage, processing, and disposal. Candidate will coordinate and communicate with Tallgrass commercial and operational groups to support business development, take a defined business commitment, apply basic engineering analytical concepts, and develop a project and engineering/execution plan for successful completion of a project to meet business objectives. Work with Tallgrass's customers, the general public, government agencies, and other stakeholders to communicate project goals and objectives to advance the project from concept to design/engineering to construction and realization of operations.

Responsibilities
  • Manage projects in a manner that assures safety, reliability, environmental and human impacts are mitigated while meeting project goals (including Schedule, Budget, Safety, and Overall Quality).
  • Create long- and short-term plans, set targets for milestones, and adhere to deadlines.
  • Delegate project tasks to resources (internally or externally) best positioned to complete them.
  • Make effective decisions regarding next steps when presented with multiple options for project execution.
  • Serve as a point of contact and on-site representative for teams when multiple units are assigned to the same project to ensure team actions remain in synergy.
  • Perform quality control on the project throughout development to maintain expected standards.
  • Adjust project schedules and targets as requirements or financing change.
  • Provide preliminary work scopes, estimates, and budgeting details of assigned projects/work items.
  • Support the bidding process to ensure competitive and effective costing.
  • Provide project management to ensure that projects are completed in line with commercial commitments.
  • Advise management of progress toward project objectives and develop strategies for necessary adjustments.
  • Recognize and promote ideas that provide safer, more efficient, and cost-effective operation.
  • Interface effectively with customer representatives, regulators, Tallgrass staff, and others, as required.
  • Interact with operations personnel during concept, design, construction, and completion of capital projects for smooth turnover post-construction.
  • Follow all Tallgrass Policies and Procedures and best practices.
  • Provide leadership and direction to project teams that may include internal and external service providers (e.g., Project Engineers, Planning Engineers, Operation Engineers, and Environmental Engineers) to ensure project success.
  • Provide or direct appropriate project documentation during the project and after completion to assure compliance with Corporate, Federal, State, and other governing bodies.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations that communicate project proposals, descriptions, and statuses to upper management, customers, governmental agencies, and/or the public.
  • Provide accurate monthly project cash flow forecasts.
  • Ensure ongoing improvement through evaluation of current processes.
  • Travel is required and anticipated as 10- to 15-percent across a broad geographic region (East-Central Wyoming).
  • Organize projects in the Company's financial control system, review and manage expenditures and commitments, and prepare monthly cost control reports.
  • Interact with a wide variety of people with tact, courtesy, and professionalism.
  • Speak clearly and listen carefully, both in person and by telephone, using a high level of communication skills.
  • Maintain regular, dependable attendance and a consistently high level of performance.
  • Work non-traditional hours, as needed.
  • Maintain a high regard for personal safety, for the safety of company assets and employees, and for the general public.
  • Perform other daily, weekly, monthly, or special project duties as identified and defined.
Qualifications

Education

  • Project Manager - Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction, or Project Management, or equivalent from an accredited institution along with a minimum of 8 years of relevant job experience.

Experience/Specific Knowledge

  • Must have 6 years of experience in major project environments with direct work experience in engineering or project management of natural gas or hazardous liquid projects (e.g., produced water, pipeline or facility projects including transmission, metering, pump station, storage, gathering, processing, and disposal).
  • Must have full complement of project management skills including project scoping and estimating using work breakdown structures, cost and schedule control, design and construction management, team building, resource planning, procurement procedures, and permitting.
  • Must have a basic understanding of midstream projects.
  • Must have executed at least one major capital project with a Total Installed Cost of more than $100 million.
  • Must have very strong analytical skills to develop concepts in partnership with Tallgrass Commercial personnel.
  • Must have strong analytical skills and logical thought processes.
  • Must have exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including presenting ideas, proposals, and results to business segment leaders and to internal and external customers.
  • Must have the ability to organize and prioritize daily work, including tracking and managing large projects, and to see projects to completion while maintaining confidentiality as necessary.
  • Must have a general understanding of how corporate policies, procedures, practices, and processes relate to the Pipeline business segment and its customers.
  • Must have an understanding of basic economic analysis as it pertains to project justification.
  • Must have the ability to identify and establish expectations in an employee/employer relationship.
  • Must have solid leadership, communication, motivation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Must have the ability to manage projects with individuals of varying disciplines, backgrounds, and experience levels.
  • Must have a working knowledge of applicable regulations and agencies such as DOT, OSHA, and various state counterparts.
  • Must be proficient in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, Project, Teams, Outlook).
Certifications, Licenses, & Registrations
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers (for travel).
