Senior Project Manager – Multifamily Construction - North Suburbs

Overview

A leading Multifamily construction firm is seeking a Senior Project Manager to oversee high-impact residential and mixed-use projects. This role involves end-to-end project leadership, from early budgeting and design coordination through construction execution and closeout. The ideal candidate will bring strong organizational, technical, and interpersonal skills, along with a track record of managing mid-to-large scale developments. Oversight of Project Managers and Engineers is also required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to preconstruction efforts including budgets, estimates, and scope reviews
  • Analyze bids, evaluate scopes, and provide value engineering input
  • Develop site logistics plans and budget accordingly
  • Coordinate permitting and ensure timely submission of required documentation
  • Draft and manage subcontractor agreements, insurance compliance, and project setup
  • Oversee project execution using a construction management platform (e.g., Procore)
  • Build and maintain project schedules, identify critical path and milestones
  • Manage submittals, RFIs, and change orders with ongoing documentation
  • Lead project meetings and issue clear, timely meeting minutes
  • Work closely with Superintendents to coordinate subcontractors and enforce safety and quality protocols
  • Handle billing processes, budget reviews, and vendor compliance
  • Maintain positive relationships with design consultants, clients, and trade partners
  • Represent the company at industry events and assist with interview preparation for new work
  • Mentor junior staff and help develop team capabilities

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 8–10 years in a senior or progressively responsible construction role
  • Strong estimating knowledge and business acumen; field experience preferred
  • Demonstrated success managing large or complex residential/mixed-use projects
  • Familiarity with construction technology and project management tools; Procore experience is a plus

Compensation

  • Salary range: $130,000 – $160,000
