Role Summary

The Aptitude Project Manager 2 will be responsible for constructability reviews, conceptual estimating, consultation, bid pricing, project management, change management, and coordinating with project teams on technology or Aptitude scopes of work. This position is expected to be a subject matter expert, demonstrating strong leadership, communication, and project management skills to effectively integrate technology scopes on selected projects. All activities will support the strategy, vision, and values of JE Dunn.

Key Role Responsibilities - Core
  • Supports all aspects of the company's safety culture and creates awareness by demonstrating commitment to an injury-free environment.
  • Coordinates technology-related design and construction efforts that meet standards.
  • Provides technical expertise related to design assist, installation, and network integration of systems.
  • Creates technology-specific scopes of work and responsibility matrices.
  • Performs quantity takeoffs and obtains vendor & trade partner pricing for budgets or proposals.
  • Manages budgets, costs, and projections related to projects.
  • Assists with the development, dissemination, and discipline of Aptitude processes and standards.
  • Leads, coaches, and motivates team members in alignment with JE Dunn's values.
  • Supports deployment of Aptitude strategies for project delivery.
  • Participates in communication programs and strategy sessions.
  • Manages budgets, schedules, staffing, billing, and collections.
  • Develops and manages project plans and schedules.
  • Tracks and reports progress on milestones.
  • Communicates, tracks, and resolves issues promptly.
  • Completes post-project evaluations and manages project documentation.
Key Role Responsibilities - Additional Core

In addition, this position will be responsible for:

  • Managing the technology consulting process with clients and partners.
  • Initiating business development activities.
  • Supporting project pursuits to maximize Aptitude benefits.
  • Identifying and developing new technologies supporting Smart Building offerings.
  • Facilitating training to raise awareness of Aptitude.
  • Maintaining professional knowledge through workshops, publications, and networking.
  • Engaging with civic organizations to establish Aptitude as a differentiator.
  • Assisting in staff recruitment, selection, and training.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to perform work accurately and timely.
  • Intermediate communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Effective presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office at an intermediate level.
  • Ability to develop project proposals, fees, and work plans.
  • Strong personal and interpersonal skills as a self-starter.

  • Ability to manage budgets and maximize profitability.
  • Ability to build relationships that transcend projects.
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, IT, or related field (Required).
  • Equivalent relevant experience considered in lieu of degree.
Experience
  • 8+ years in IT/Security/Life Safety systems (Required).
  • 5+ years project management experience (Required).
Working Environment
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • May require travel or relocation.
  • Willingness to work non-traditional hours.
  • Exposure to extreme conditions possible.
  • Work may be on project sites or in the office.
  • Sitting, viewing screens, and occasional physical activity.
