The Great Lakes Water Authority is hiring for a Project Manager role focused on managing essential water and wastewater projects. The position requires a Bachelor's degree and a Professional Engineer License or Project Management Professional Certification, along with at least four years of experience. This mid-senior level role offers a hybrid work arrangement and involves overseeing multi-million dollar projects that support critical infrastructure improvements.
GLWA is seeking skilled Project Managers (life cycle PM) to support the delivery of GLWA’s Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) through effective management of CIP and/or non-CIP projects. GLWA Project Managers are responsible for managing projects throughout all phases, including business case development, study, design, construction, procurement, operations turnover, and project closeout. A life cycle PM may manage projects related to water resource recovery facilities, combined sewer overflow facilities, sewage pumping stations, or regional wastewater collection systems, supporting over $1 billion in capital improvements over the next 10 years.
Responsibilities include communicating with all levels of the organization, managing project activities and stakeholders, scope, schedule, and budget, ensuring standards compliance, coordinating procurement, managing risks, monitoring performance, developing charters, analyzing variances, tracking costs, staying current with industry trends, following safety policies, strategic planning, managing multiple projects, preparing reports, advising leadership, coordinating meetings, mentoring team members, and facilitating processes.
Required education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction, Business, or related discipline; Professional Engineer License in Michigan or Project Management Professional Certification (or ability to obtain within 12 months). Minimum four years of project management or related experience. Preferred experience includes 10+ years in water/wastewater design engineering and project management, with multi-disciplinary engineering experience. Other requirements: valid Michigan Driver’s License, ability to work irregular hours, and hybrid work arrangement.
