Job summary

Samsung Austin Semiconductor seeks a Project Manager Lead (Tool Hookup Mechanical) to lead process mechanical and exhaust hookup operations in our advanced foundry. You’ll coordinate with factory operations, tool vendors, and contractors to ensure safe, efficient connections to utility infrastructure, from tool arrival to handover.

The role demands expertise in high-purity piping, cleanroom standards, and project controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years of project management experience in high-purity mechanical and piping construction.
• Minimum 5 years inside operational large-scale semiconductor cleanroom environment.
• PMP credential or PE license highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Serve as central point of contact for the mechanical hookup team in high-level foundry executive, client, and tool vendor alignment meetings.
• Define boundaries between base-build utility infrastructure and tool-specific POC hookups to prevent scope gaps or overlap.
• Own and resolve engineering, scheduling, resource, and cross-functional conflicts between competing trades and tool owners.
• Monitor financial performance, manage cash flow forecasting, review change orders, and track earned value management (EVM) for the mechanical scope.
• Partner with the master scheduling team to align mechanical installation sequences with aggressive Tool In-Fab (TIF) and Tool Install Ready (TIR) milestones.

Position Summary

The Project Manager Lead (Tool Hookup Mechanical) acts as the primary engineering and construction leader for process mechanical and exhaust hookup operations within a semiconductor foundry. This role bridges the gap between factory operations, tool vendors (OEMs), and trade contractors to ensure that highly complex manufacturing equipment is safely, efficiently, and precisely connected to the facility’s utility infrastructure. The position carries ultimate accountability for the mechanical scope’s safety, schedule, quality, and budget from tool arrival to final factory handover.

• 8+yearsofdedicatedprojectmanagementexperiencespecificallyfocusedonhigh-puritymechanicalandprocesspipingconstruction.
• Minimum5yearsofdirectexperienceworkinginsideanoperational,large-scalesemiconductorcleanroomenvironment.
• ProjectManagementProfessional(PMP)credentialoranactiveprofessionalengineering(PE)licenseishighlydesirable.

Mandatory Knowledge, Skills and Competencies

• Advancedtechnicalknowledgeofspecializedhigh-puritypipingmaterials,includingPVDF,PFA,andElectropolishedStainlessSteel(316LEP).
• Strongworkingknowledgeofinternationalandsemiconductorsafetystandards,includingFMGlobal,NFPAcodes,andSEMIguidelines(specificallySEMIS2andS8).
• Absoluteproficiencyincleanroomprotocolmanagement(Class10toClass1000)andtheenforcementofcontaminationcontrolduringactiveconstruction.
• Practicalcapabilityinnavigatinganddigitalreviewmodelsoftware(e.g.,AutodeskNavisworks,Revit)andprojectcontrolsplatforms(e.g.,PrimaveraP6,Procore).

The current base salary range for this role is between $90,000 - $151,500. Individual base pay rates will depend on factors including duties, work location, education, skills, qualifications and experience. Total compensation for this position will include a competitive benefits package and may include participation in company incentive compensation programs, which are based on factors to include organizational and individual performance.
