Job summary

KCI Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Survey Project Manager to oversee successful project delivery, client liaison, and staffing coordination across multiple projects.

You will handle scopes, budgets, schedules, and contract negotiations with a focus on quality and timely completion. The role requires a Bachelor's in an related field (AEC) plus professional experience, with a preference for candidates with a Professional Land Surveyor’s license and leadership potential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (AEC Industry) and a minimum of 2 years of related professional experience, or 6 years of equivalent professional experience.
  • Participation in continuing education and professional development programs.
  • Possess potential leadership abilities to inspire and motivate project teams.
  • Organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients, team members, and stakeholders.
  • Technical knowledge in the specific field of the project.
  • Knowledge of project management software and tools, with the ability to develop and maintain comprehensive project plans and documentation.
  • Understanding of industry standards and best practices related to project management, quality assurance, and safety protocols.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues and implement effective solutions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Negotiation skills to manage contracts, scope changes, and stakeholder agreements effectively.
  • An understanding of accounting principles to effectively manage project budgets, financial reporting, and resource allocation.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain superior relationships with each of his/her clients.
  • Direct communication with Survey Practice Leader is essential.
  • Manage several projects and tasks simultaneously.
  • Prepare the scope of services, detailed project budget and contract for the Practice Leader’s review and approval.
  • Coordinate project scheduling.
  • Conduct “kick-off” and interim project status meetings with the project team to discuss tasks, schedules, budgets, etc.
  • Complete each project on time and on budget.
  • Monitor project schedules and budgets throughout the project life.
  • Lead formal Project Reviews.
  • Ensure a QA/QC review is completed at the appropriate stages of each project.
  • Determine if a contract needs to be amended and immediately seek approval of the client and supervisor when changes in a project’s budget or scope are necessary.
  • Serve as primary client contact for selected projects.
  • Monitor project’s adherence to company standards, including Quality Control and Quality Assurance specifications and CADD standards.
  • Assist in documenting the performance of project team members through completion of Project Staff Reviews.
  • Communicate significant performance issues to team members and Practice Leader so that appropriate action may be taken at the appropriate stages of each project.
  • Professional Land Surveyor’s License is preferred.

Job Description

The Survey Project Manager is accountable for the successful management of assigned projects. This person is also responsible for assisting in marketing and client development, technical quality, profitability, schedule, project staff coordination, client communications, scoping and negotiating scopes and fees, client follow‑up, billing/collections and maintenance.

Certificates, Licenses, and/or Registrations Required:

  • Ability to complete the KCI PM Training and Contract Risk Training along with passing the PM Board within 6 months of start date.
  • Pre‑employment drug screening is a condition of employment. Background and motor vehicle checks may be required based upon position.
