Job summary

AKS is seeking a Land Development Project Manager in our Tualatin, OR office. Lead civil engineering design efforts on regional projects, collaborating with principals and multidisciplinary teams to deliver on time and within budget.

The role calls for strong management, proposal development, and a proactive, detail‑oriented mindset with WA license or ability to obtain. You will mentor junior staff and drive business opportunities while upholding quality and standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field required.
  • Experience leading civil engineering design projects and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and proposal writing ability.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all components of the project from proposal preparation through construction support.
  • Develop and manage project scope to deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • Design, prepare, and lead the development of preliminary and final plans and specifications.
  • Perform site and infrastructure design per county/city standards, coordinating with jurisdiction staff.
  • Identify, cultivate, and pursue new clients and business opportunities and participate in developing proposals.
  • Provide QA/QC review of deliverables.
  • Coordinate and manage projects with principals and staff.
  • Manage, train, and mentor junior engineering staff.

We have an opening for a full‑time Land Development Project Manager for our Tualatin, OR office. The focus of this position is to lead the development of the company’s civil engineering design services on a mix of projects throughout the region while working closely with our principals and multidisciplinary task leads. This opening is ideal for a registered professional who can take the lead on the design of projects and can independently manage projects.

What You’ll Do
  • Manage all components of the project from proposal preparation through construction support
  • Develop and manage project scope to deliver projects on time and within budget
  • Design, prepare, and lead the development of preliminary and final plans and specifications
  • Perform site and infrastructure design per county/city standards, maintaining good communication with the planning/engineering staff of the jurisdiction to minimize future changes and misunderstandings
  • Identify, cultivate, and pursue new clients and business opportunities and actively participate in developing proposals
  • Provide QA/QC review of deliverables
  • Coordinate and manage projects with principals and staff
  • Manage, train, and mentor junior level engineering staff
Who You Are
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field
  • 6+ years of experience in civil engineering design
  • Washington PE license holder
  • Proven ability to identify and pursue business development opportunities in Washington
  • Basic understanding of financial reports, solid time management, and follow‑through skills, and the proven ability to manage a multi‑disciplinary team with a positive, flexible approach
  • Knowledge and familiarity with how to implement local codes and agency standards
  • Strong written and oral communication skills including proposal and report writing
  • Self‑motivated, proactive, detail‑oriented, and good organizational skills
  • Ability to work quickly, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines
  • Takes personal responsibility for completing quality work within budgets and timelines
  • Experience and or training in project management
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Civil 3D and/or MicroStation/InRoads design experience
  • Possess a valid US driver’s license
  • You have a "Do what needs to be done" mindset, taking ownership beyond assigned tasks and stepping in wherever needed to keep projects, teams, and customers supported and running smoothly.
