Job summary

Independent Health is seeking an Intermediate Project Manager to plan, coordinate, and deliver strategic initiatives. You will manage projects using Waterfall and Agile methods, partnering with business leaders, technical teams, and stakeholders to define objectives, manage scope, schedule, and budget.

You will help transition the organization toward Agile practices, promote continuous improvement, and ensure successful project outcomes with clear stakeholder communication.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required or four years of PM experience in lieu of degree.
  • Four years of project management experience required.
  • Certifications are preferred: PMP, CSM/PSM, or PMI-ACP.
  • Experience leading cross-functional projects from initiation through implementation.
  • Experience in Waterfall, Agile, or Hybrid environments preferred.
  • Healthcare, health insurance, or regulated industry experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead projects from initiation through implementation and transition to operations.
  • Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, resource plans, and budgets and ensure deliverables are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Apply appropriate delivery methods (Waterfall, Agile, or Hybrid) based on project needs.
  • Define project goals, scope, success criteria, and deliverables with stakeholders.
  • Monitor progress and provide updates; escalate risks as needed.
  • Facilitate project meetings, workshops, and stakeholder discussions.
  • Support business readiness, organizational change, and implementation activities.
  • Mentor team members on project management best practices and Agile concepts.

Overview

The Project Manager-Intermediate will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering projects that support organizational goals and strategic initiatives. This role will manage projects using a combination of traditional (Waterfall) and Agile methodologies based on project and business needs. The Project Manager will partner with business leaders, technical teams, and stakeholders to define project objectives, manage scope, schedule and budget, identify risks, and ensure successful project delivery. The role will also support the organization's transition toward Agile ways of working by promoting collaboration, continuous improvement, and iterative delivery practices. The Project Manager will be accountable for achieving project outcomes, maintaining alignment with business priorities, and providing clear communication to stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • An additional four (4) years of experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Four (4) years of project management experience required.
  • One or more of the following certifications are preferred: PMP (Project Management Professional) Certified or Professional ScrumMaster (CSM or PSM) or Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP).
  • Experience leading cross-functional projects from initiation through implementation required.
  • Experience working in Waterfall, Agile, or Hybrid project environments preferred.
  • Healthcare, health insurance, or regulated industry experience preferred.
  • Proven examples of displaying the PBD values: Trusted Advisor, Innovative, Excellence, Guardianship, Dedication and Caring.
Essential Accountabilities
  • Lead projects from initiation through implementation and transition to operations.
  • Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, resource plans, and budgets and ensure deliverables are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Apply appropriate delivery methods (Waterfall, Agile, or Hybrid) based on project needs.
  • Define project goals, scope, success criteria, and deliverables with stakeholders.
  • Ensure alignment between project objectives and organizational priorities.
  • Monitor project progress and provide updates.
  • Communicate status, risks, issues, and decisions.
  • Facilitate project meetings, workshops, and stakeholder discussions.
  • Support business readiness, organizational change, and implementation activities.
  • Lead project closure activities, lessons learned sessions, and transition planning and partner with leaders to identify opportunities to improve project delivery processes.
  • Support adoption of Agile principles, tools, and practices across teams.
  • Facilitate Agile ceremonies as needed, including planning sessions, reviews, retrospectives, and stand‑ups.
  • Promote continuous improvement and delivery of business value through incremental releases.
  • Help teams balance Agile practices with organizational governance requirements.
  • Escalate significant risks or concerns to leadership when appropriate.
  • Provide transparent reporting to leadership, sponsors, and governance bodies.
  • Ensure project documentation and approvals comply with organizational standards.
  • Build strong relationships with business leaders, stakeholders, vendors, and project team members.
  • Facilitate decision‑making and resolve conflicts that may impact project success.
  • Lead and influence cross‑functional teams without direct supervisory authority.
  • Foster collaboration, accountability, and shared ownership of project outcomes.
  • Mentor team members on project management best practices and Agile concepts.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of project management standards and tools.

Hiring Compensation Range

$80,000 - $100,000 annually

Compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to skills, education, location and experience. In addition to base compensation, associates may be eligible for a scorecard incentive, full range of benefits and generous paid time off. The base salary range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
