General Notes

The University of Texas at Austin is seeking to hire a Project Manager III (PM3) to serve within Planning, Design and Construction (PDC). PM3 will provide project management and leadership for major Capital Improvement Program (CIP, >= $10M TPC) and minor (< $10M TPC) projects at UT Austin for highly technical, mission critical, and sensitive project types. PDC is currently managing more than $2 billion in major projects in the design and construction phases, and this position is critical for the successful delivery of these projects.

Job Details:

Purpose

Provide professional project management of design and construction projects for university facilities, including new construction, renovations, and refurbishments.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate leadership, management, organization, and communication skills; provide excellent customer service.
  • Provide professional direction, mentor staff, and support successful project delivery.
  • Maintain consistent communication with stakeholders and ensure thorough documentation.
  • Assist with project scope, budget, and schedule development; track progress and update university systems.
  • Procure services, administer agreements, and stay current with codes and standards.
  • Participate in committees and perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field.
  • 4+ years’ experience in project management for design and construction.
  • Knowledge of contract documents, bidding, and negotiation.
  • Understanding of building codes and standards.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, and scheduling software.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Licensure as Architect or Engineer in Texas or reciprocity.
  • LEED-AP credentials.
  • Experience in higher education projects.
  • PMP certification or similar.

Driving Required

Class "C" operator's license; provide a three-year driving record. Must obtain Texas license if not current resident.

Salary Range

$110,000+ depending on qualifications.

Working Conditions

  • Physical activities including climbing, lifting, and moving.
