Job summary

Hydrogen Group is seeking a Project Manager III (Gas) to lead development and execution of large-scale energy projects, spanning from early-stage assessment to construction readiness. The role emphasizes establishing and running reporting processes—schedule, cost, risk, milestones, and overall status—for informed leadership decisions.

Responsibilities include coordinating interfaces across gas interconnection, switchyards, civil/site infrastructure, and long-lead procurement while tracking

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • 5–10 years of energy project development, project controls, or large capital construction experience.
  • Experience developing and managing project schedules for gas generation or major capital projects.
  • Experience with Owner-level project reporting, including schedule, cost, risk, and milestone reporting.
  • Familiarity with EPC/EPCM project delivery models and contractor bid evaluation.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent workstreams and competing priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Support engineering and construction activities throughout technology review, preliminary engineering, contracting, and project development phases.
  • Coordinate technical input for site configuration reviews, constructability assessments, and balance-of-plant evaluations.
  • Support scopes related to gas and electrical interconnection, switchyards, civil/site infrastructure, and other project interfaces.
  • Track development, permitting, regulatory, and construction milestones.
  • Identify project dependencies and potential impacts to construction readiness and execution.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, cost benchmarks, cash flow models, and other project controls.
  • Own and maintain project risk registers, tracking scope, schedule, cost, procurement, and constructability risks.
  • Identify and elevate scope changes that may create cost or schedule impacts.
  • Support risk-adjusted cost assessments and contingency analysis.
  • Develop and manage monthly and quarterly project reporting, including schedule status, cost performance, risk exposure, and milestone tracking.
  • Create concise project dashboards and presentation materials covering scope, budget, equipment status, interconnection, permitting, key decisions, and project risks.
  • Prepare executive-level project status packages that clearly communicate emerging risks, mitigation strategies, and residual exposure.
  • Ensure project reporting is accurate, timely, and actionable for leadership and project stakeholders.

We are seeking a Project Manager III (Gas) to support the development and execution of large-scale energy projects, with a focus on gas generation and related infrastructure. This role will support projects from early-stage technical assessment and preliminary engineering through construction readiness and execution.

Project Development & Execution Support

Procurement & Supply Chain Coordination
  • Partner with Procurement and Supply Chain teams on RFQ development, technical scope reviews, and bid evaluations for major equipment and EPC/EPCM scopes
  • Support cost comparisons between internal estimates and contractor proposals, identifying material variances and potential scope alignment issues
  • Track long-lead equipment procurement and delivery, including combustion turbines, HRSGs, transformers, and switchgear
  • Identify and communicate potential supply chain constraints, equipment availability issues, and schedule impacts
What You'll Need
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
  • 5-10 years of experience in energy project development, project controls, or large capital construction projects
  • Demonstrated experience developing and managing project schedules for gas generation or major capital projects
  • Experience with Owner-level project reporting, including schedule, cost, risk, and milestone reporting
  • Familiarity with EPC/EPCM project delivery models and contractor bid evaluation
  • Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent workstreams and competing priorities
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting combined-cycle or simple-cycle gas generation projects
  • Familiarity with electrical interconnection processes and related engineering and construction requirements
  • Experience coordinating procurement of long-lead equipment in constrained OEM markets
  • Exposure to balance-of-plant scopes, including switchyards, transmission, civil/site infrastructure, and related facilities
  • Experience working across Engineering, Construction, Procurement, and Supply Chain functions
