Job summary

Gilbane Building Company in Orlando seeks a Project Manager II to serve as the on-site leader responsible for the direction, completion, and financial outcome of a medium-sized construction project. The role is on the job site every day and requires hands-on project leadership.

You will build high‑performing teams, manage risk and change, collaborate with the client and subcontractors, and apply project controls to meet safety, schedule, and budget goals while upholding Gilbane’s standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management.
  • 5–10 years of experience (or equivalent) in construction/project management.
  • Strong technical and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of industry-standard software, Microsoft Office (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development of the project safety plan and provide job-site leadership.
  • Develop project controls and procedures, and create risk-mitigation processes to manage contract requirements.
  • Establish and monitor the change-management process and project financial forecast to meet contract requirements.
  • Create and manage a project-specific quality plan aligned with the owner contract and assist with execution.
  • Create and manage a closeout plan in alignment with the contract documents and assist with execution.
  • Provide leadership in motivating the project team and maintain a positive work environment, including supervising work and establishing operational priorities.
  • Train direct reports on processes, procedures, and completion of daily tasks.
  • Contribute to the subcontracting strategy; write scopes and other deliverables to ensure the integrity of the buyout process.
  • Implement and enforce all aspects of contracts, participate in risk-mitigation plans, and prepare draft contracts, agreements, and purchase orders.
  • Participate in enrollment for insurance and bonds; track and obtain trade contractors’ compliance.
  • Provide planning support and be accountable for estimates of select bid packages and contributing to GMP preparation.
  • Conduct constructability and coordination reviews.
  • Create CPM schedule and prepare monthly schedule updates.
  • Develop a basic understanding of local market areas and create a networking strategy.
  • Collaborate closely with business development to ensure seamless integration with sales strategies, including performance metrics on assigned projects, pursuits, and client deliverables.
  • Manage workload and performance of direct reports, ensuring alignment with overall company standards.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive work environment to motivate and engage team members.
  • Aid in communicating company and department strategy to direct reports.
