Job summary

Perkins Eastman in Irvine, CA, is seeking a Project Manager to lead public school and government projects with a multidisciplinary design team. You will oversee client relations, budgets, schedules and quality across design phases, collaborating with principals and consultants.

The ideal candidate holds a degree in architecture, 10+ years' experience on public school projects, a California license, and proficiency in Revit/AutoCAD.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in architecture required.
• Minimum 10 years' experience managing public school projects.
• Must have Division of the State Architect experience with full project life cycle.
• Strong written and verbal communications skills.
• Deltek Vision experience a plus.
• Proficient with Revit and AutoCAD.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• California Architecture license is required.
• Passion for sustainable design; LEED accreditation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Function as day-to-day point of contact with clients and governing agencies including the Division of the State Architect.
• Manage overall quality of projects through all design phases including client interaction, schedule and financial performance.
• Assist Principal-in-Charge with Design Services Proposals.
• Understand contracts and run projects from inception through to closeout.
• Manage project teams and staffing to meet milestones.
• Responsible for budgeting, staffing, billing and consultant billing.
• Manage and generate details in a Revit context.
• Lead coordination with consultants and design team.
• Coordinate material identification and specifications.
• Quality control of contract documents.
• Lead Construction Administration activities including meetings, submittals and field sketches.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.

The Opportunity

Project Manager is a project leadership position with responsibility for quality of services, architectural design, technical production of projects, client management and financial management. Perkins Eastman, Costa Mesa Studio covers multiple practice areas including K-12 education and civic projects.

We are seeking an individual with strong technical and communication skills working within the design team to create exemplary buildings, specifically public schools and government projects to suit clients’ and users’ needs.

Primary Responsibilities

• Function as day-to-day point of contact with clients and governing agencies including the Division of the State Architect.
• Manage the overall quality of small and large projects through all design phases including client interaction, schedule and financial performance (both client budgets as well as internal budgets). Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills are essential.
• Assist Principal-in-Charge with generating Design Services Proposals
• Understand contracts and run projects from inception through to project closeout.
• Manage project teams, determining staffing assignments required to meet project milestones.
• Responsible for all aspects of project management including budgeting, staffing, billing and consultant billing.
• Manage and/or generate details, both exterior and interior within a Revit context
• Lead in coordination with consultants and design team
• Coordinate material identification and specifications
• Quality control of the contract documents
• Lead all aspects of the Construction Administration phase including meetings, submittals and preparation of field sketches.
• Ability to work on multiple projects and manage project priorities.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degrees in architecture is required.
• Minimum 10 years’ experience in managing public school projects.
• Must possess Division of the State Architect experience with the full life cycle of project review, approval and certification.
• Strong written and verbal communications skills
• Familiarity with Deltek Vision Software a plus
• Proficient with computer-assisted design software such as Revit and AutoCAD
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software
• California Architecture license is required.
• Passion for and fundamental understanding of sustainable design.
• LEED Accreditation preferred.

Additional Qualifications

• Must be able to interface with clients and maintain the relationship while managing the project.
• Must be able to put fee proposals together for projects.
• Must have experience managing the project budget
• Must be able to contribute towards RFPs.
• Excellent communication skills are a must.
• Manage and assign staff on the project.
• Ability to develop business development and bring in clients is a plus.

PE has a hybrid policy that allows flexibility for our employees in managing their working days and hours to cater to their diverse needs.

Salary Range: $105,000 - $124,000

Compensation may vary based on the job level and your geographical work location.
