Responsibilities
- Manage assigned project(s) throughout their full lifecycle, including developing the scope and technical sections of proposal and procurement documents, participating in contract negotiations, and overseeing the delivery of the project plan to achieve HNTB’s 4 for 4 performance: on-time, on-budget, quality, and client satisfaction on every project.
- Proactively manage the project budget, schedule, technical requirements, contractual obligations, and client communications in support of project objectives.
- Provide high-level technical tasks while managing and reviewing design-related specifications, calculations, reports, and plans.
- Coordinate with internal and external partners, including cross-discipline and functional teams, to address and resolve design-related issues.
- Typically manage project teams for one or more strategic (<$1M) projects or lead/participate as a discipline lead on mini-mega ($1M to <$5M) projects.
- Develop the project scope and fee quotation and assist in preparing technical proposals and contracts in accordance with HNTB's Sophisticated Contracting Approach (SCA).
- Serve as the primary client liaison and manage the project team to deliver scope, schedule, and budgets to the client’s satisfaction. Assist with client project scoping and contract negotiations.
- Lead and/or support business development with Client Service Leaders and pursuit champions for strategic and mini-mega projects, including proposal development and interview presentations.
- Oversee recruitment, development, retention, and succession planning for project staff, and support performance and compensation reviews.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
What You'll Need
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 8 years of relevant experience
- 2 years task management or Deputy PM experience
What You'll Bring
- Winning, contracting, and successfully delivering 4for4 on smaller projects, with the ability to identify and escalate risk and change management issues under supervision.
- Experience leading a team for a smaller project or task order with minimal subconsultants.
- Ability to use system tools to manage, monitor, and deliver smaller projects or task orders.
- Collaborative approach with the Office Management Team to implement HNTB Sophisticated processes as applicable to the project.
- Experience interfacing with client-level peers on mid-sized or moderately complex projects or task orders.
- Provide technical guidance to the team and task leads, and perform portions of the technical work.
What We Prefer
- Master’s degree in Structural Engineering, Architectural Engineering or Civil Engineering
- 10 years of relevant experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) and Structural Engineering (SE) license
- Experience with structural analysis software such as ETABS, SAP 2000, ADAPT, SAFE, RHISA, etc.
- Familiarity with Revit, Autodesk and Bluebeam

- The approximate pay ranges: Greater Seattle metro area: $152,341.01 – $238,276.98; nationwide: $126,950.84 – $248,205.18. These ranges are good faith estimates at posting and may vary by qualifications and location.
