Job summary

Olsson in Texas is seeking a Project Manager I to lead construction materials testing projects from initiation through completion, across concrete, soils, and asphalt. You will manage client relationships, budgets, and schedules, and mentor junior team members.

Openings across Texas and Oklahoma, including Dallas; candidates must be willing to commute or relocate to project site locations and work on-site to meet project needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, sciences, construction, planning, or related field.
  • Minimum five years of project experience in construction materials testing or related field.
  • Proven ability to meet client expectations through project management activities.
  • Excellent client service orientation, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and decision-making skills with ability to generate innovative solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble and lead project teams, assigning responsibilities to align skills with objectives.
  • Serve as primary liaison between client, contractors, and internal teams; communicate scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Develop and manage budgets, monitor costs, and ensure adherence to financial plans.
  • Manage complex contract negotiations and coordinate change requests.
  • Identify risks or additional costs and mitigate impacts.
  • Organize and lead regular project meetings for alignment on expectations and deliverables.
  • Oversee detailed reviews of technical work to ensure quality outcomes.
  • Document all project deliverables and maintain records.
  • Secure resources for all project phases to ensure timely completion.

Job Description

Our Construction Materials Testing Team plays a critical role in ensuring the quality, safety, and performance of materials used in infrastructure and building projects. From concrete and asphalt to soil and aggregates, our team provides essential testing and analysis that supports the structural integrity and compliance of construction efforts.

As a Project Manager I, you will lead and coordinate construction materials testing projects from initiation through completion. Your involvement in the full project life cycle will be crucial for ensuring timely completion of projects, in accordance with established scope, schedule, and budget. This position leads to the successful delivery of projects that provide purposeful, high-quality solutions to successfully solve engineering and design needs. You will oversee laboratory and field-testing operations, manage client relationships, ensure compliance with industry standards, and support the professional development of your team.

This position has multiple openings across Texas and Oklahoma, including Dallas, Haskell, Midland, and Stillwater. Candidates must be willing to commute or relocate to the city where their assigned project is located. Flexibility to work on-site in these locations is essential to meet project requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Document all project deliverables and maintain comprehensive records, including correspondence, design plans, and other project-related files.
  • Secure appropriate resources for all project phases to ensure timely and successful completion.
  • Mentor team members on project management best practices using internal tools and resources.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements to maintain a safe and productive work environment.
  • Foster and maintain strong client relationships to support future business opportunities.
