Job summary

ONE Gas, Inc. is seeking an entry-level project support to assist across the life cycle of natural gas construction projects. You will help with requirements gathering, scoping, scheduling, and coordination with developers, engineers, and city officials.

The role involves participation in design and construction management, cost analysis, and the development of communication plans for diverse stakeholders. Travel may be required, and the position is based in Tulsa, OK.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred in construction management, engineering technology, business administration, or related field.
  • Up to two years of relevant professional experience is typical.
  • Experience interpreting engineering construction plans and drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Support all aspects of natural gas construction project management from initiation through close-out.

  • Maintain and improve PM policies and procedures.
  • Review plans, perform economic evaluations, draft contracts, and negotiate gas installation agreements.

Job description

Offers entry-level support to the full life cycle of natural gas construction projects. Responsible for requirements gathering, project scoping, applicable internal and external stakeholder coordination, design and construction scheduling, construction management, and financial analysis.

Responsibilities

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support all aspects of natural gas construction projects management from initiation through closure to ensure on-time delivery of service. This includes monitoring and communicating the project’s deadlines, scope, budget and costs.
  • Assist in the development of scope, schedule and milestones for natural gas construction projects.
  • Maintain and improve design and construction project management policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for the development process which includes reviewing construction plans, running economic evaluations, drafting contract documents, and negotiating gas installation agreements with developers as applicable.
  • Create communication plans for applicable internal and external stakeholders, including but not limited to; developers, engineers, plumbers, site superintendents, city permitting, permitting consultants, internal engineering staff, operations, resource management, right of way, and legal.
  • Monitor and track progress of natural gas construction projects. Responsible for status updates which includes providing updates to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Review and communicate scheduling data to ensure project consistency and optimization. Resolve problems and issues, as needed.
  • Develop relationships with applicable internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide information and assistance to applicable internal and external stakeholders involved in the natural gas construction projects.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is required in performance of job.
  • Employee may be required to perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree preferred in construction management, engineering technology, business administration, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and additional work experience. (Typically, one and a half to two years of relevant experience is equivalent to one year of formal education.)

Experience

  • In addition to education, this role typically calls for up to two years of relevant professional experience.
  • Knowledge of gas distribution system infrastructure design and materials, construction methods, and project durations.
  • Knowledge to interpret engineering construction plans, mechanical drawings, equipment specifications and rate schedules.
  • Demonstrated ability of scheduling principles and practices.
  • Knowledge or training related to:
    • Gas fired equipment design and operation
    • Line extension program
    • Job order preparation (as specified by position)
  • Pressure request procedures.
  • Experience in use and function of project management software and office equipment including computers and applicable software.
  • Demonstrated ability researching and composing reports, studies, cost analyses, contracts, and correspondence.
  • Experience interacting, advising, and communicating effectively.
  • Application of math, algebra, and statistics.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and write fluently in English.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Required: Applicable driver's license for travel to meet with customers and attend various civic and community functions.
  • Preferred: Project Management Professional (PMP).

Additional Requirements

  • Mobility to travel in and around office and outdoor environments and job sites.
  • Able to communicate and/or exchange information; conduct oral presentations.
