Job summary

Zachry Nuclear Engineering, Inc. is seeking a Project Manager to oversee engineering‑driven client projects, coordinating with home office and site teams.

The role emphasizes independent decision making, scope management, schedule adherence and proactive communication with the client to ensure satisfaction and successful project delivery. The ideal candidate will have a BS in engineering, 10+ years in design engineering and project management, strong leadership, and proficiency with MS Office;

Qualifications

  • BS in engineering or other technical field from an accredited university.
  • Minimum 10 years of design engineering, project management and client relations.
  • Experience with operating plant procedures, budget analysis, and forecast.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; presentation skills.
  • Must pass security and drug screening; nuclear plant access.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor status of all ongoing projects including budget, schedule, scope changes, and deliverables.
  • Ensure contractual requirements are met and facilitate contract changes and payments.
  • Review, approve and correct invoices related to project work.
  • Communicate client processes and procedures to staff and facilitate training as needed.
  • Coordinate projects from early phases to budgets, design, construction drawings, and close-out.
  • Prepare project plans, budgets and schedules and control scope, budget and schedule.

Job Description

Position dictates applying extensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices to the management of assigned projects while making independent decisions. Individual will be responsible for developing and maintaining close working relationships with client to include professional and social interaction with key home office and site individuals. This position requires individual to be a liaison between client and company. Position includes identifying client needs and expectations, including upcoming major projects and communicates those needs to the applicable individuals. Position also includes obtaining client feedback regarding work performance and facilitates implementation of process improvements, as appropriate. Also, individual will work with client to address and resolve issues that may develop relative to project scope changes, quality of services, cost, or schedule. Successful candidate will coordinate and participate in the preparation of proposals for client work by working with Discipline Engineering Managers and Account Managers to develop project scope, approach, technical assumptions, staffing, schedule, and pricing.

Responsibilities
  • Monitoring the status of all on‑going projects to include budget, schedule, scope changes, review of deliverables relative to scope and client expectations, participation in company weekly schedule meeting and preparation of monthly status reports.
  • Ensuring contractual requirements are met; addressing, and resolving contractual issues; initiating contract changes; and facilitating payment for services.
  • Reviewing, approving and correcting (as needed) invoices applicable to project work.
  • Understanding and communicating to company staff client’s processes and procedures, and facilitating training of company staff, when needed.
  • Coordinating projects from earliest phases to budgets, design through issuance of construction drawings, and final project completion close‑out.
  • Preparing Project Plans, budgets and schedules and being responsible to control project scope, budget, and schedule.
Qualifications
  • Education: Minimum BS in engineering or other technical specialty from an accredited university with coursework in mechanical, electrical, chemical, or similar technical scope.
  • Experience: Minimum 10 years of experience with design engineering, project management and client relations. Experience with operating plant procedures, processes, budget analysis, and forecast.
  • Ability to manage, motivate and organize team members; communicate and provide technical direction and task assignments.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point); competency in software applications for email and databases.
  • Effective time management skills; ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Knowledge and experience in project scheduling techniques.
  • Understanding and compliance with company policies, procedures, and financial obligations of projects.
  • Must pass security and drug screening; maintain unescorted nuclear plant access.
  • Overtime work and travel to client sites required.
  • Ability to perform walk‑downs of equipment in an industrial plant environment, including climbing ladders, accessing security‑controlled areas, and entering confined spaces and controlled hazardous areas.
  • Preferred Education: MS in engineering or other technical specialty from an accredited university.
  • Preferred Certifications: Professional Engineering registration (EIT or PE) and Project Management Professional (PMP).
