Job summary

Jobot is seeking a Project Manager with HVAC automation and controls experience to lead turnkey building automation projects in the Richmond, Virginia area. You will coordinate planning, design, and execution with clients, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure on-time delivery from kickoff to closeout.

The role requires 5+ years in BAS/BMS or HVAC controls project management, familiarity with major BAS platforms, and strong knowledge of HVAC equipment. Travel and after-hours work may be needed.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of BAS/BMS or HVAC controls project management experience.
• Experience with one of the listed BAS/BMS platforms (Schneider Electric, Johnson Controls, Siemens, Automated Logic, Delta Controls, Distech, Trane).
• Technical knowledge of commercial HVAC equipment (AHUs, VAVs, boilers, chillers).

Responsibilities

• Lead project planning, implementation, and execution.
• Collaborate with Engineering on submittals and drawings.
• Manage timeline, scheduling, and updates with the PM Team.
• Provide weekly reports to Management.
• Maintain project contract documents and approvals.
• Oversee submittals, material orders, and cost impacts.
• Supervise subcontractor installation and resolve issues.
• Ensure safety and provide leadership to the project team.
• Test, configure databases, oversee commissioning, and close projects.
• Foster relationships with customers, prime and subcontractors.

Job Details: We're looking for a Project Manager with experience in HVAC automation and controls to lead the planning, design, and execution of turnkey building automation projects. This role works closely with clients, engineers, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure smooth delivery from kickoff to closeout.

Responsibilities

• Lead project planning, implementation, and execution.
• Collaborate with Engineering on project submittals and drawings.
• Manage project timeline, scheduling, and updates with the Project Management Team.
• Regularly monitor and report project progress to the assigned Senior Project Manager.
• Provide weekly reports to Management.
• Maintain project contract documents.
• Handle project submittals and approvals.
• Proactively address potential issues and communicate cost impacts or change orders/RFIs promptly to the Project Coordinator.
• Review Bill of Materials and submittals, ensuring material order accuracy in coordination with the Project Coordinator.
• Supervise subcontractor installation and resolve installation challenges.
• Provide leadership, mentorship, and support to the project team.
• Test and configure system database, oversee commissioning, and manage project closure.
• Foster positive relationships with customers, prime contractors, subcontractors, and trade personnel.
• Prioritize employee and subcontractor safety, adhering to company safety standards.
• Perform maintenance, site surveys, replacements, and modifications as needed.
• Stay updated on product information related to installation, operation, maintenance, service, and repair.
• Offer technical support and basic training to customers.Assist technicians and the project management team, contributing to technical training and qualifications.
• Be available for occasional after-hours/weekend shifts.
• Travel to customer job sites as required.

MUST HAVE:

• 5+ years of BAS/BMS or HVAC Controls Project Management experience
• Experience working with one of the following BAS/BMS platforms: Schneider Electric, Johnson Controls, Siemens, Automated Logic, Delta Controls, Distech, or Trane
• Technical knowledge of commercial HVAC equipment, AHU's, VAV's, boilers, chillers etc.
• Ability to interpret design documents and controls drawings
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Project
