The Department of Design & Construction, Safety & Site Division, seeks a Project Manager. Under the general direction of the Chief, the selected candidate will assist with managing the work product of consultants for technical accuracy, completeness, timeliness, and cost-effectiveness. Responsibilities include conducting and overseeing field investigations to identify, evaluate, and control hazardous materials (asbestos, lead, and mold contamination), reviewing abatement and remediation specifications, and monitoring remediation projects on assigned capital projects and emergency response incidents. Additionally, the Project Manager will review Health and Safety Plans (HASP), Work Place Safety Plan (WPSP) applications from abatement contractors prior to submission to the NYC DEP’s ARTS unit; review design and construction drawings and historical data; analyze laboratory data to determine regulatory compliance; review survey reports and abatement design specifications; conduct pre-abatement meetings; and ensure regulatory filings are accurate and compliant with federal, state, and local regulations as well as DDC guidelines.

Driver License Requirement: Must have a valid NY driver license, maintained throughout employment. Disqualifications may apply for violations or suspensions.
For Level II and III, additional experience requirements are specified, including experience in Level I and II roles, and possession of a valid NY driver license for Level III.
Candidates should have or be able to obtain certificates such as NYSDOL/NYCDEP Asbestos Inspector, Project Monitor, Designer, and others. Experience in inspection/testing of asbestos, lead, mold, and IAQ, along with knowledge of relevant environmental regulations, is preferred. Good communication and computer skills are also desirable. Ability to drive across NYC boroughs is required.
