Job summary

LVI Associates is recruiting a Project Manager / Estimator for a growing Heavy Civil General Contractor in Billings, MT. The role blends project execution with preconstruction tasks, including estimating, bidding, planning, and managing a range of heavy civil projects across the region.

The candidate will prepare estimates, review plans and bid documents, coordinate with subcontractors and owners, manage budgets and schedules, and ensure safety and on-time delivery.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of heavy civil construction means and methods.
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and contracts.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate and competitive estimates for heavy civil construction projects.
  • Review plans, specifications, and bid documents.
  • Solicit and analyze subcontractor and supplier pricing.
  • Develop project budgets, schedules, and work plans.
  • Manage projects from award through closeout.
  • Track job costs, production, and profitability.
  • Coordinate with owners, engineers, subcontractors, and field personnel.
  • Prepare and negotiate change orders.
  • Conduct project meetings and maintain client relationships.
  • Ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.

Salary: $90,000 - $130,000 DOE

Experience Needed
  • 3+ years of experience in heavy civil construction estimating, project management, or a combination of both.
  • Experience with one or more of the following:
    • Earthwork and grading
    • Underground utilities
    • Road and highway construction
    • Site development
    • Concrete construction
    • Excavation projects
  • Experience preparing quantity takeoffs and bid proposals.
  • Experience managing project budgets and schedules.
  • Proven ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with public and private construction projects.
Qualifications Needed
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of heavy civil construction means and methods.
  • Experience with estimating software and project management tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and contracts.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to visit project sites as needed.
