Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Geology, or related field.
  • 8–12 years of Bay Area environmental consulting experience with project management.
  • CA PE or PG registration as appropriate.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to independently lead project teams to meet client goals.
  • Strong organizational skills and financial acumen.
  • Proficiency with MS Office 365 Suite and related software for project and financial management.

Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day project execution with accountability for scope, schedule, budget, quality and safety.
  • Manage full project lifecycle: scoping, estimating, scheduling, subcontractors, resources, and finances.
  • Plan site characterization programs and oversee field investigations.
  • Interpret geologic data and develop conceptual site models with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Prepare and review work plans, reports, and regulatory submittals.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, regulators, and stakeholders.
  • Coach staff and ensure consistent quality and knowledge transfer.
  • Plan work per health and safety protocols and demonstrate safety behaviors.

We are looking to add new talent to our growing team! We are currently seeking a Project Manager, Environmental Engineer or Geologist to work in a technical project manager role with highly skilled professionals on diverse project teams in a dynamic environment. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing group and company and get involved in a variety of projects for a diverse range of clients. This is a full‑time, local hybrid position located in our Walnut Creek, CA; Oakland, CA; or San Jose, CA office.

In this role, you will manage and execute complex environmental projects throughout the Bay Area, with an emphasis on remedial investigations, site characterization, remediation, and regulatory compliance. You will lead multidisciplinary teams and be accountable for project scope, schedule, budget, technical quality, and health and safety performance. You will also interpret environmental and geologic data, develop conceptual site models, prepare regulatory deliverables, and maintain effective relationships with clients, subcontractors, regulators, and other stakeholders.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead day-to-day project execution with accountability for scope, schedule, budget, quality, and health and safety.
  • Manage the full project lifecycle, including scoping, cost estimating, proposal support, scheduling, subcontractor coordination, resource planning, and financial management.
  • Plan and manage site characterization programs, including coordination of field investigations and oversight of field teams.
  • Evaluate and interpret geologic and site characterization data, develop conceptual site models, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to meet project objectives.
  • Prepare and/or review work plans, technical reports, and regulatory submittals.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, subcontractors, regulators, and other stakeholders.
  • Coach and mentor staff and review work products to support consistent quality and knowledge transfer.
  • Plan all work in accordance with company and client health and safety protocols.
  • Demonstrate the company’s foundational safety behaviors.
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

Minimum Skills and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Geology, or related field.
  • Minimum 8–12 years of relevant local Bay Area environmental consulting experience, including direct project management experience.
  • California Professional Engineer (PE) or Professional Geologist (PG) registration, as appropriate.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to independently lead project teams to achieve project and client goals and objectives.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and financial acumen.
  • Proficient computer literacy skills, including use of the Microsoft Office 365 Suite—Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint—and the ability to learn software needed to support financial management, diverse project needs, and client requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to work on interdisciplinary project teams.
Preferred Skills:
  • Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • 2+ years of project management and financial management experience.
  • OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER training and current refresher updates.

Salary

The salary range for this position in Walnut Creek, CA; Oakland, CA; or San Jose, CA is $115,000-$145,000 annually. Actual compensation will be based upon a variety of factors such as education, related work experience, certificates, skills, and current market conditions. Haley & Aldrich reviews salary ranges each quarter to assess competitiveness with the market.
