Job summary

Zekelman Industries is seeking a Data Center Electrical Project Manager to lead mission-critical electrical construction projects across Texas. You will drive project execution from preconstruction through commissioning, coordinating engineering, procurement, field teams, and commissioning authorities to ensure safe, on-time delivery and quality.

Ideal candidates bring 7+ years in electrical construction, 5+ years in project leadership, and strong NEC knowledge.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or related field (or equivalent electrical construction experience).
  • 7+ years of electrical construction experience.
  • 5+ years of project management or equivalent leadership experience.
  • Experience managing budgets, procurement, contracts, schedules, and customer relationships.
  • Strong working knowledge of NEC and electrical distribution systems.
  • Ability to read electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, specs, and approvals.

Responsibilities

  • Lead electrical construction projects from contract review through closeout.
  • Develop and manage plans covering scope, budget, schedule, staffing, procurement, quality, safety and turnover.
  • Coordinate engineering, BIM/VDC, procurement, field ops, modular fabrication, logistics, commissioning and turnover.
  • Drive accountability across project teams to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Manage change orders, RFIs, claims, notices, and contract documentation.

Hospitals, hotels, schools, bridges, airports and more.Come build a career you believe in.About The Role:We are seeking a Data Center Electrical Project Manager to lead the planning, execution, and successful delivery of mission-critical electrical construction projects throughout Texas.In this role, you will oversee projects from preconstruction and procurement through commissioning, turnover, and final closeout. You'll collaborate with customers, contractors, engineers, vendors, and field teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.This position is ideal for a leader who thrives in fast-paced environments and has experience managing hyperscale, AI, HPC, colocation, cloud, or other mission-critical infrastructure projects.What You'll DoProject Leadership & ExecutionLead electrical construction projects from contract review and preconstruction through customer acceptance and project closeout.Develop and manage project execution plans covering scope, budget, schedule, staffing, procurement, quality, safety, and turnover requirements.Coordinate engineering, BIM/VDC, procurement, field operations, modular fabrication, logistics, commissioning, and turnover activities.Drive accountability across project teams to ensure successful project outcomes.Financial & Commercial ManagementManage project budgets, forecasts, labor productivity, cash flow, billings, collections, profitability, and contingency planning.Review contracts, specifications, design documents, and customer standards to ensure scope alignment and compliance.Prepare, negotiate, and manage change orders, RFIs, claims, notices, and contract documentation.Identify project risks, scope gaps, design concerns, procurement challenges, and schedule threats while implementing mitigation strategies.Schedule & Procurement ManagementDevelop and maintain baseline schedules, milestone plans, procurement schedules, recovery plans, and commissioning readiness plans.Manage procurement of critical electrical equipment including: Medium-voltage systems Switchgear Transformers Generators UPS systems Batteries PDUs and RPPs Busway systems Cable tray and cable infrastructure Controls and monitoring systems.Monitor long-lead equipment procurement and coordinate delivery schedules to support project milestones.Quality, Safety & CommissioningEnsure compliance with company, customer, OSHA, and industry safety standards.Support robust QA/QC programs including inspections, testing documentation, redline management, punch-list control, and turnover packages.Coordinate startup activities, outages, energization plans, integrated systems testing, commissioning, and phased turnovers.Maintain focus on zero-defect execution and customer satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.Customer & Stakeholder ManagementLead meetings with owners, general contractors, engineers, subcontractors, commissioning authorities, and vendors.Build strong customer relationships that support repeat business opportunities.Provide executive-level reporting on financial performance, project status, procurement, schedule progress, quality, safety, and risk management.Support proposal development, estimating handoff processes, and project lessons learned initiatives.What We're Looking ForRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred. Equivalent electrical construction experience will be considered.7+ years of electrical construction experience.5+ years of project management or equivalent leadership experience.Proven experience managing: Project budgets and financial performance Procurement and material management Contracts and change management Project schedules Subcontractor performance Customer relationships.Strong understanding of: National Electrical Code (NEC) Electrical distribution systems Construction safety practices QA/QC processes Commissioning and turnover procedures.Ability to interpret electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, specifications, contracts, schedules, submittals, and equipment documentation.Strong leadership, negotiation, communication, risk management, and problem-solving skills.Valid driver's license and willingness to travel throughout Texas and other project locations as required.Preferred QualificationsExperience with hyperscale, AI, HPC, GPU-focused, colocation, enterprise, or mission-critical data center projects.Experience supporting neocloud or GPU-focused cloud infrastructure providers.Background managing projects involving: Medium-voltage distribution Critical power systems Redundant electrical architectures Commissioning and integrated systems testing Aggressive phased turnover schedules Early energization programs.Experience with modular construction, prefabrication, offsite manufacturing, or multi-site deployment programs.Familiarity with: Procore Bluebeam Primavera P6 Microsoft Project Power BI Microsoft 365 ERP and accounting systems Digital document control platforms.Zekelman Industries offers competitive compensation and excellent benefits, including low-cost, high-quality medical and dental benefits.
