Job summary

MPI is expanding its Data Center Construction capability in Fredericksburg, VA. The Project Manager will lead commercial construction initiatives from preconstruction through turnover, coordinating with clients, architects, subcontractors and internal teams to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.

The role requires strong communication and leadership to manage budgets, schedules, and risk while fostering client relationships and supporting strategic growth initiatives.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of project management experience within commercial construction.
• Experience overseeing budgets, schedules, subcontractors, and client relationships.
• Strong understanding of construction contracts and financial management.
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage commercial construction projects through all phases from preconstruction to turnover.
• Develop and maintain schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
• Lead coordination between clients, architects, subcontractors, and internal teams.
• Review contracts, submittals, RFIs, and change orders for compliance.
• Oversee project financial performance, including forecasting and cost tracking.
• Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, quality, and safety.
• Build strong client relationships to support repeat business.
• Collaborate with leadership on strategic initiatives and growth.
• Mentor project team members and foster accountability.
• Support expansion into data center markets.

Job Description

The Project Manager - Data Center Construction - Fredericksburg, VA will be responsible for:

• Manage commercial construction projects throughout all phases, from preconstruction and planning through final turnover.
• Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and resource plans to ensure successful project execution.
• Lead communication and coordination efforts between clients, architects, subcontractors, consultants, and internal teams.
• Review contracts, project documents, submittals, RFIs, and change orders while ensuring compliance with project requirements.
• Oversee project financial performance, including forecasting, cost tracking, billing, and risk management.
• Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, quality control, and safety compliance.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships to support repeat business and future opportunities.
• Collaborate with executive leadership on strategic initiatives and company growth objectives.
• Mentor and support project team members while fostering a positive and accountable project environment.
• Contribute to the firm's expansion into emerging markets, including data center construction.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Project Manager - Data Center Construction - Fredericksburg, VA should have:

• 5+ years of project management experience within commercial construction.
• Demonstrated success managing projects from preconstruction through closeout.
• Experience overseeing budgets, schedules, subcontractors, and client relationships.
• Strong understanding of construction contracts, project documentation, and financial management.
• Ability to operate independently while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Experience within sectors such as municipal, government, corporate interiors, healthcare, retail, hospitality, or similar commercial markets preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred.
