Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a seasoned Project Engineering/PM professional to lead automation and control system projects across power, water, and industrial markets in the United States. You will own scope, schedule, budget, and risk while serving as the primary customer contact and guiding cross-functional teams.

The role requires 3+ years in project management/engineering, strong communication skills, and willingness to travel up to 20%.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or another technical discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a project engineering or project management environment.
  • Experience leading projects involving engineered systems or solutions, industrial technologies, or operational environments requiring technical coordination.
  • Ability to identify, assess, and mitigate project risks while managing changes and competing priorities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% in the United States.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.
  • Project management certification such as PMP® or PgMP® is preferred.
  • Experience with industrial automation, integrated hardware/software systems, or engineered solutions is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Emerson Ovation™ systems or other DCS/PLC platforms is preferred.
  • Exposure to PMI-based, Agile, or hybrid project management methodologies in customer-facing environments is preferred.
  • Experience in power generation, water/wastewater, renewables, or other critical infrastructure environments is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead automation and control system projects from initiation through closeout.
  • Deliver complex solutions across power, water, and industrial markets.

  • Lead contract, change order, and scope negotiations.
  • Collaborate with engineering, sales, operations, field service, and commercial teams.
  • Monitor project progress and communicate status and risks.
  • Drive actions to meet safety, quality, and financial commitments.
  • Support proposal development and project planning through execution strategies.
  • Identify continuous-improvement opportunities and capture lessons learned.
  • Support business growth through follow-on work and service expansion.
  • Make day-to-day project decisions with autonomy and accountability.
  • Advance project management practices, tools, and delivery frameworks.

Job description

  • Lead automation and control system projects from initiation through closeout

  • Manage projects ranging from approximately $500,000 to $10 million or more
  • Own project scope, schedule, budget, risk, and overall performance
  • Serve as the primary customer contact
  • Build customer relationships and ensure customer satisfaction
  • Lead contract, change order, and scope negotiations
  • Collaborate with engineering, sales, operations, field service, and commercial teams
  • Monitor project progress and communicate status and risks
  • Drive actions to meet contractual, safety, cybersecurity, quality, and financial commitments
  • Support proposal development and project planning through execution strategies, risk assessments, and delivery plans
