Project Manager, Creative Operations (Contract Role)
New York, NY
Overview
We are a people-powered beauty ecosystem, leveraging unique and engaging online and offline experiences as well as consumer participation to fuel our growth. In 10 years, we have built an iconic brand that has revolutionized how consumers, and how the industry, think of beauty. The foundational DNA of our brand is resonant across generations, timeless, and ripe for building upon. Our next step is to bring Glossier to more people in more places. We are inclusive, customer-devoted, curious, courageous, discerning, and results-driven.
Our Creative team is seeking 1-2 Project Managers contractors to join our Creative Operations team. This role is responsible for intake, validation and prioritization of creative requests, maintenance of an always-accurate job tracking system, development of discrete project schedules and contribution to high-level campaign schedules, creative resource management, trafficking and release of final artwork. You will set your Creative partners up for success on a per-project basis, and see those projects through to completion. In this role, your primary stakeholders will be Wholesale and Owned Retail, and within Creative, our Visual Merchandising and Experiential team. You will also partner closely with all other Creative capacities. Together, we will bring inspiring, resonant brand stories and product innovations to our growing community audience. This role will report into the Director of Creative Operations.
To succeed in this role, you’d bring a keen eye for detail, the ability to quickly determine the actionability of a given request, and a strong sense of the creative effort required to execute such requests.
- Ownership of all creative requests submitted by our internal Wholesale and Retail teams. Confirmation of request receipt, entry and maintenance of requests within creative workflow system, review and assessment of request feasibility/actionability, collaboration with requesting partner to augment requests as needed to assure completion, creation and maintenance of discrete request/project schedules with aggressive but achievable milestones, ongoing communication of project status from receipt through successful on-time delivery.
- Lead all communications between Creative Operations and the Manager of Wholesale VM, who is our primary conduit to external manufacturing partners.
- Receive, comprehend, audit/augment, and synthesize all incoming communications to assure actionability on the part of the Visual Merchandising team. Develop strong cross-functional relationships across the organization to enable honest, efficient collaboration between Visual Merchandising, the greater Creative and all partner teams.
- Achieve and maintain complete awareness of all current activity within the Visual Merchandising team, and closely partnered creative disciplines (principally Copy, Design and Production). Adopt and augment tools to make that awareness (always accurate in real-time) available to all team members, increasing the team’s ability to self-manage.
- Develop and foster a keen understanding of the Glossier world, our brand, our people and our values. Apply these learnings to all creative project planning and execution.
- Develop and maintain an in-depth understanding of how Glossier presents itself in Wholesale and Retail environments, in the interest of ongoing optimization, increasing consistency, and identification of internal workflow efficiencies.
- Project management support on all experiential projects that come to life in physical environments. Collaboration with external partners and vendors to assure successful execution against the project scope, on-time and within budget.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of Creative Operations, Project Management and/or Visual Merchandising experience in full-service studio settings (in-house and/or agency). Beauty, Retail/Fashion, or Prestige CPG industry experience preferred.
- Experience working with both external Wholesale partners (e.g. Sephora, Space NK, Mecca) and manufacturing partners (e.g. fixtures, factices, windows)
- Familiarity with the materials and methods employed by successful brand and selling experiences in physical Wholesale and Retail environments.
- Familiarity with shop drawings, CAD renderings, planograms, schematics and other engineering drawings associated with retail/wholesale fixtures.
- Ability to cross-reference wholesale buys, creative requests and resulting artwork, assuring alignment.
- Full comprehension of standard creative processes across creative disciplines and communication channels, allowing for seamless integration of Copy and Design into all VM outputs.
- Understanding of the Print Production process, that converts approved designs into final, vendor-ready mechanical artwork, and the ability to factor that work into all project plans and schedules.
- Experience partnering with and aligning multiple stakeholders and contributors on large-scale product launches, seasonal fixture updates and entry into new markets.
- An ingrained ability to quickly assess project scope and estimate the required resources and time required to execute against any given scope.
- Strong relationship-building skills, both within creative teams and with Creative’s partners, internal and external.
- Excellent oral and written corporate communication skills, with the proven ability to synthesize complex inputs into feasible, actionable project plans with clear roles/responsibilities and firm milestones.
- Excellent visual communications skills.
- Excellent attention to detail, particularly as it pertains to review of creative requests, and comparison between final artwork and vendor proofs.
- Experience using Google Workspace.
- Experience using Slack.
- Experience working within and optimizing creative workflow systems (e.g. Wrike, Monday, Airtable, Asana).
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud is a serious plus.
- Ability to work from our HQ in Soho, NY at least 3 days a week
