Job summary

Atlas in Lakewood, Colorado, is seeking a Heavy Civil Project Manager to lead Construction Materials Testing, Special Inspections, and Field Services. You will guide technical staff, drive client satisfaction, and oversee project execution from kickoff to closeout on major infrastructure projects across Colorado.

You will mentor teams, manage budgets, and ensure safety and quality while pursuing growth opportunities for Atlas.

Qualifications

  • 5 years of experience in Construction Materials Testing, Special Inspections, Heavy Civil Construction, Geotechnical engineering or related field services.
  • Leadership experience: leading teams, coordinating field operations or managing projects.
  • Strong knowledge of testing procedures and industry standards (ASTM, ACI, AASHTO, CDOT).
  • Ability to interpret construction plans, specifications, geotechnical reports and technical documents.
  • Strong organizational, communication and problem-solving skills; ability to handle multiple projects and priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop technicians, inspectors, and field personnel, fostering safety, accountability, and excellence.
  • Manage multiple testing and inspection projects from kickoff through closeout; schedule and resource plan.
  • Review and approve testing reports, inspection documents, and project deliverables for accuracy and compliance.
  • Monitor budgets, billing, profitability, and financial performance; support proposals and cost estimates for new work.
  • Ensure safety program adherence, PPE compliance, and Atlas safety culture.

What Youll Do

As a key leader within our Construction Services team you will Lead mentor and develop technicians inspectors and field personnel while fostering a culture of safety accountability and excellence Manage multiple construction materials testing and special inspection projects from kickoff through closeout Coordinate staffing scheduling workload distribution and resource planning to ensure successful project delivery Partner with clients contractors and project stakeholders to provide responsive service and trusted technical solutions Review and approve testing reports inspection documentation and project deliverables for accuracy and compliance Monitor project budgets billing profitability and financial performance Prepare scopes proposals and cost estimates to support new business opportunities Resolve project challenges quickly and effectively while maintaining client confidence and project momentum Champion Atlas Safety Culture by ensuring compliance with PPE requirements safety protocols and company initiatives

Required Qualifications
  • 5 years of experience in Construction Materials Testing Special Inspections Heavy Civil Construction Geotechnical Engineering or related field services
  • Prior experience leading teams coordinating field operations or managing projects
  • Strong knowledge of construction materials testing procedures and industry standards including ASTM ACI AASHTO and CDOT requirements
  • Ability to interpret construction plans specifications geotechnical reports and technical documents
  • Strong organizational communication and problem solving skills
  • Experience managing multiple projects and competing priorities in a fast paced environment
  • Valid drivers license with the ability to support field operations as needed
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering Geotechnical Engineering Construction Management or related discipline
  • Professional Engineer PE license or active progression toward licensure
  • Experience managing heavy civil transportation roadway bridge waterwastewater or vertical construction projects
  • Existing relationships within the Colorado construction and engineering market
